Legislation . . .

. . . on masturbation . . .

(http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-politics/texas-anti-masturbation-bill-fine-for-masturbating-illegal-jessica-farrar-house-bill-4260-man-s-a7669866.html)
". . . A bill that would see Texas men fined $100 for masturbating has taken a step closer to becoming law after it received its first reading in the state’s House of Representatives. . . Under section 173.010 of House Bill 4260, the Man’s Right to Know Act, Texas men would only be allowed to masturbate under supervision, inside approved health care and medical facilities. . . Any “unregulated masturbatory emissions outside of a woman’s vagina, or created outside of a health or medical facility, will be charged a $100 civil penalty for each emission, and will be considered an act against an unborn child, and failing to preserve the sanctity of life.” . . . (but) Ms Farrar is not being entirely serious. . . The Texas Democrat knows her bill has no hope of becoming law, and has introduced it to satirize how women have been affected by targeted healthcare legislation in her state, particularly relating to abortion. . ."

Laugh . . .

Is is me or should this man (a tower of principled jello) be laughed out of the Presidential race . . .

Five years after the Affordable Care Act became law, one of its biggest opponents says he may be signing up.
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, the first major candidate to enter the 2016 presidential race, is now shopping around for health coverage after his wife, Heidi, took a leave of absence from her job at Goldman Sachs to campaign with her husband. The unpaid leave does not include benefits.

"We will in all likelihood get health care through my employment, which means you end up going on to the exchange and getting health insurance," Cruz said during an appearance on the Mike Gallagher radio show Wednesday. Members of Congress without insurance are required to sign up through health care exchanges created by Obamacare because of an amendment to the law added by Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley.

However, Cruz said he would not accept a subsidy members of Congress are eligible for to help pay for coverage. "I'm going to purchase health insurance with my own funds for my family, like millions of Americans," he said.

The first-term senator became the face of GOP opposition to Obamacare in 2013 when he spoke for more than 21 hours on the Senate floor in opposition to the law. He urged his GOP colleagues not accept a government funding bill that kept Obamacare intact, setting in motion a 16-day partial government shutdown.

Game Changing . . .

(from http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/opinion/editorial/bs-ed-senate-gop-20141014-story.html, What A GOP Senate Would Mean)
“. . . That said, it would be a mistake to assume that a Republican-held Senate would not be able to assert its will on public policy in a meaningful way. It might not be able to pass game-changing legislation high on the GOP wish list — a complete dismantling of the Affordable Care Act, for instance — but it might be able to nibble at the edges or put vulnerable Democrats on the spot. In the case of Obamacare, the targets are clear — go after the tax on medical devices, the employer mandate or other unpopular elements in the program. The strategy would be to weaken Obamacare, put it deeply in the red or make it so dysfunctional that eventually a repeal would seem like an act of euthanasia. . .”

This is what our ‘lawmakers’ do - destroy what the OTHER SIDE has done instead of helping their constituents. Wouldn’t it make more sense to ‘fix’ the unpopular elements in the program
to make that program work better to provide affordable healthcare to the population?

John . . .

. . . not big nor bad . . .

I don't know John McCain personally.  Honestly, he's not exactly a personal hero to me.  I wouldn't vote for him for president.  As time goes on though, I'm thinking maybe . . . NAHH!!!  With time however, I am seeing what I believe to be a thoughtful, principled and conscientious public servant, a decent human being. . . and man with a sense of humor too.

(from www.wikipedia.com)
". . . John McCain's early military career began when he was commissioned an ensign and started two and a half years of training at Pensacola to become a naval aviator. . .  His combat duty began when he was 30 years old, in mid-1967, when Forrestal was assigned to a bombing campaign, Operation Rolling Thunder, during the Vietnam War. . .  John McCain's capture and subsequent imprisonment began on October 26, 1967. He was flying his 23rd bombing mission over North Vietnam when his A-4E Skyhawk was shot down by a missile over Hanoi. McCain fractured both arms and a leg ejecting from the aircraft, and nearly drowned when he parachuted into Truc Bach Lake. Some North Vietnamese pulled him ashore, then others crushed his shoulder with a rifle butt and bayoneted him. McCain was then transported to Hanoi's main Hoa Lo Prison, nicknamed the "Hanoi Hilton".

Although McCain was badly wounded, his captors refused to treat his injuries, beating and interrogating him to get information; he was given medical care only when the North Vietnamese discovered that his father was a top admiral. His status as a prisoner of war (POW) made the front pages of major newspapers.

McCain spent six weeks in the hospital while receiving marginal care. By then having lost 50 pounds, in a chest cast, and with his hair turned white, McCain was sent to a different camp on the outskirts of Hanoi[39] in December 1967, into a cell with two other Americans who did not expect him to live a week. In March 1968, McCain was put into solitary confinement, where he would remain for two years. . .

(Later, after pursuing his political ambitions). . . McCain developed a reputation for independence during the 1990s. He took pride in challenging party leadership and establishment forces, becoming difficult to categorize politically. . ."

Fight. . .

. . . for your right. . .

Those Chesneyans.

When Kenny Chesney comes to town, rest assured there will be party. At Pittsburg's Heinz Field, literal boatloads of fans arrive days before the performance, tying up along the river posing a potential hazard. Meantime, on land, parking is $40 a car and police abound.   This does not deter over-the-top behavior who party long and hard for many hours before the show. Garbage and human waste abound.

The recent show in Pittsburgh was notable.  Of 50,000 fans, about 75 people were arrested and 45 required medical attention
