Check . . .

. . . the facts, or in this case, the falsehoods (from Tuesday's Presidential debate)

TRUMP STATEMENT: "Take a look at West Virginia — mailmen selling the ballots. They're being sold. They're being dumped in rivers. This is a horrible thing for our country."
CLAIM: Trump says mailmen in West Virginia are "selling the ballots"
Get updates from the campaign trail delivered to your inbox
FACT CHECK: False

TRUMP STATEMENT: "They're losing 30 and 40 percent. It's a fraud. It's a fraud and it's a shame."
CLAIM: Trump says "they're" (an unknown entity) "losing 30 and 40 percent" of ballots.
FACT CHECK: False

TRUMP STATEMENT: "If you look at New York, where it's going up like nobody's ever seen anything, the numbers are going up 100, 150, 200% of crime."
CLAIM: Trump says crime has increased 100-200% in New York.
FACT CHECK: Misleading
DETAILS:
The New York Police Department released citywide crime statistics on September 3, 2020 for the month of August. There has been a 0.7% increase in total crime . . . Shooting incidents in New York City have increased 165.9% between August 2019 and August 2020

TRUMP STATEMENT: "They (The Obama administration) had the slowest recovery — economic recovery — since 1929. It was the slowest recovery. Also they took over something that was downhill."
CLAIM: Mr. Trump said President Obama and Vice President Biden presided over the slowest economic recovery since 1929.
FACT CHECK: False

TRUMP STATEMENT: "A fixing of the VA — which was a mess under [Obama] — 308,000 people died because they didn't have proper health care. It was a mess. And we now got a 91% approval rating at the VA, our vets. We take care of our vets."
CLAIM: 308,000 veterans died because they "didn't have proper health care" at VA.
FACT CHECK: Misleading (????) [question marks- MINE]
. . . (a) number of deaths did take place during the Obama administration, perhaps as many as 50,000 or more. But this report clearly states that the vast majority occurred before Obama took office.

TRUMP STATEMENT: "You (to Biden) don't think we should've closed our country because you thought it was too-- it was terrible. You wouldn't have closed it for another two months."
CLAIM: President Trump says that he banned travelers from China early on during the pandemic, and that Biden called that ban "xenophobic" and "racist."
FACT CHECK: Inconclusive: Mr. Trump's decision to "close our country" wasn't as strict as he claims, and while Biden criticized it, he did not use the terms Trump accused him of using.

TRUMP STATEMENT: "We didn't know anything about the disease. Now, we found that elderly people with heart problems and diabetes and different problems are very, very vulnerable. We learned a lot. Young children aren't — even younger people aren't. We learned a lot."
CLAIM:  Young children aren't "vulnerable" to COVID.
FACT CHECK: Misleading
THE DETAILS: While data does show that young children are less likely to contract COVID-19 than adults, it is not true that children have not been affected. It is also not true that children are incapable of spreading the virus.

Caring . . .

". . . Howard Walters, 56, acknowledges that his economic fortunes haven't improved much since he voted for Donald Trump four years ago. . . "Trump cares about us. I know that. He's not overly nice, but he cares about us.". . . Jennifer Poling, 38, a hairdresser, said that "as much as Democrats say they want to help us, Obama didn't do anything to help us.". . . "This is a blue-collar area," she said. "Trump is trying to help us. He's the only candidate who is going to help us."

". . . Nearly 500,000 manufacturing jobs have been created under Trump but employment stagnated . . . amid Trump's trade fight with China and sluggish growth overseas. . . The U.S. trade deficit in goods increased 18% during the first two years of Trump’s administration, indicating that more manufacturing jobs left the U.S. than came back, says EPI Senior Economist Robert Scott. . . Meteors . . .

Meteors that come once a year;
Quite a show of fireworks
When you’re there to see them.
Shooting stars fantastically glow.
All too soon no one can say
Where they are or gone to.

Back on earth we average reside.
Most of us will never know such adoration.
So I go my ordinary way.
Do my job and feed my kids;
This world and wonder.

Dust and gas -
That’s what they’re made of.
Why all the fascination?

Fabulous! They’ll take your breath away.
They will dazzle with their style
And their savoir faire.
Improvise; they make their own moves.
All the cattle follow close
Behind from the pasture.

Why couldn’t I be
One among those many millions?
Why can’t someone see
My astrological worth?
What causes the sea
Of heavenly bodies to glow like they do?
Shining so brightly for me and for you.
Sooner or later they burn themselves out
But oh so beautifully.

Meteors have nothing to fear.
From their distant firmament
They shine for the masses.
Safe above, removed from earthly life,
From uncertainty that lines the
Cloth of our mortal existence.

Groove . . .

Being and living, just for yourself,
Avoiding pure selfishness, will surely behoove.
If you're good at it, do it, whenever you can,
As if you've got nothing to prove.
Maybe all will not like, but respect many will.
Contentment abounds when absorbed in your groove.

We . . .

Which side are you on?
Choose just one or the other.
God forbid you should think for yourself.
Sure there’s strength.
Yes there’s strength in the numbers.
But sometimes, you must go it alone.

Are you a them-ist?
Maybe an us-ist?
One or the other.
Decision time,
Which will it be? (What about WE?)

There’s a world out there
And it’s teeming with wonder.
At your fingertips is the power to learn.
But you must possess
A sincere kind of yearning
To know what is real from what either one says.

So much variety.
So many choices
To simply settle for just one or the other.
Black or white;
Just left or right.
It’s chocolate or vanilla that we have.

We’ve got shit
That requires taking care of.
More important things
Than which side wins the game.

Beers . . .

. . .  from tears

(from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blood,_toil,_tears_and_sweat#:~:text=Churchill's%20sentence%2C%20%22I%20have%20nothing,man%2C%20Churchill%20had%20considered%20writing)
". . . Churchill's sentence, "I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat," has been called a paraphrase of one uttered on 2 July 1849 by Giuseppe Garibaldi when rallying his revolutionary forces in Rome: "I offer hunger, thirst, forced marches, battle, and death." As a young man, Churchill had considered writing a biography of Garibaldi. The circumstances under which Garibaldi made that speech—with the revolutionary Roman Republic being overwhelmed and Garibaldi needing to maintain the morale of his troops towards a highly hazardous retreat through the Apennine mountains—was in some ways comparable to Britain's situation with France being overwhelmed by the German offensive. . ."

Trying . . .

Trying to make a mountain from a plethora of dust.
But reality trains directly, its fan.
Seems tremendously unjust.

Irrespective of size, or the power they apply,
The aim is but to stifle me.
But my gut implores  - Just Try!
