Mother . . .

Driving down the concrete beams
Looking around and it now seems
Mama earth is nowhere
Gone from your eyes

Hidden in the crust
Of man's scientific dreams
She is gone

Natural man took her natural face
Made it a strange and alien place
You can't bear to look
'Cause she ain't there

Our mother has been raped
And left to die in disgrace
She is gone

Monday . . .

Are leaving on a Monday?
Have you made up your mind?
Is there anything left
That I can do to give me more time?
I’ve heard the old story,
It’s not something I said
If I didn’t say anything at all.

In the darkness I can see your form
As you lie there asleep.
Something’s wrong with this picture—
You resting peacefully,
I, in this heat.

I never suspected
That you were a calendar girl.

Six days of the week
I’m working to please you.
But when we’re alone
You’re just making plans.
The pencil and that faded old notebook
Have taken away what has made me a man.

Was it Tuesday, was it Wednesday?
Am I wasting my time?
And how much does it matter,
As this thing ages, it still isn’t wine?
I still hope though, anxiously,
You can find in your heart
One more reason to give me another chance.

Sunday evening, and I lie awake.
Seems there’s no use in sleeping.
Heard the sound of the door behind you,
Now all I hear is the sound of you leaving.

Thank . . .

. . . goodness SOMEBODY is okay . . .

". . . Speaking to Fox Business . . . Trump sprayed attacks with all the precision of 52 playing cards flung into the wind. He slammed Pelosi (“she’s got a lot of mental problems”), Joe Biden (“he’s mentally shot”), New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (“incompetent”), antifa (“scum”), former FBI Director James Comey (“a corrupt person”), and the news media (“the enemy of our people”). Referring to Gretchen Whitmer not by name but by “she,” he said that the Democratic governor wants “to be a dictator in Michigan.”. . . "

Three . . .

. . . times - a charm?

". . . Perdue’s campaign tried to claim that the senator’s use of “Kamamboamamla” in place of Harris’s actual name was some kind of innocent oopsie. Perdue “simply mispronounced Senator Harris’ name, and he didn’t mean anything by it,” a campaign spokeswoman said in a statement — impressively managing to lie three times in 12 words: there was nothing simple about it; he definitely knows how to pronounce her name; and he definitely meant something by it. . ."

Rage . . .

There's anger, vexation,
There's pique and there's wrath.
Annoyance, resentment, displeasure-just half
Of the ways to describe pressure gauged;
When a limits been reached
Or exceeded - Roadrage!

Always . . .

. . . and forever (to be expected, that is)

". . . A New York Times analysis of tax records showed that more than 200 companies, special-interest groups and foreign governments have funneled millions of dollars to President Trump’s properties while reaping benefits from the president and his administration. . . Nearly a quarter of the entities have not been previously reported. . . Sixty patrons who promoted specific interests to the Trump administration spent almost $12 million on expenses associated with the Trump Organization during the first two years of Trump’s presidency. The Times reported nearly all of these customers saw their interests move forward. . ."

Slow . . .

. . . ride
I'm not always able to move mountains tall.
But I try my very best if I want to try at all.
If seem full of optimism,  could be bigger than I've eyed.

Roomful . . .

Triumphs I’ve heard,
Over all.
Is it really true?
Many-splendored thing,
Obstacles revealed.

Gathered for this occasion,
Politely civil in a social dance.
Mannerly; respectful discourse,
All in a room that’s full of elephants.

Must be maintained
So we don’t set them free.

How many people
Exist right here in this place,
So much the same?
Pride always goes
Before the fall so they say.
It’s like a parade.

Think its your own
Imagination ‘cause its it’s real.
Circus-like true,
These pachyderms cannot be viewed.

In Case . . .

. . . you missed it . . .

You may have tried,
Or not even known,
That we're again playing live,
And we're not all alone.

The crowds may be smaller;
But spaced safely apart.
It doesn't take a scholar
To more-wisely restart.

Pro- . . .

. . . what?

(from". . . Prominent evangelical leaders have just released a statement urging pro-life evangelicals to vote for Joe Biden. . . The signers are diverse: a Trump voter in 2016; a lifelong Republican who refused to vote for Trump or Clinton in 2016; people who never before in their life publicly endorsed a presidential candidate until this year. . . Their statement acknowledges that “as pro-life evangelicals, we disagree with Vice President Biden and the Democratic platform on the issue of abortion.”  “But we believe,” the statement continues, “that a biblically shaped commitment to the sanctity of human life compels us to a consistent ethic of life that affirms the sanctity of human life from beginning to end. . . “The statement points out that many problems that better politics could correct violate the sanctity of human life. Poverty, lack of health care, racism and climate change all kill persons created in the image of God. They are all pro-life issues. . . Poverty and diseases we know how to prevent kill millions every year. . . Lack of health care kills people. Studies have shown that people without health insurance are less likely to visit a doctor, are more likely to have poor health, and die younger than persons with health insurance. . . Racism kills. We know that racism killed African-Americans in slavery and then later in thousands of lynchings. But even today, African-Americans are several times more likely than white Americans to be killed by the police. . . Climate change already kills untold thousands and will soon kill tens of millions unless we change. The overwhelming scientific consensus is that unless we quickly reduce the amount of greenhouse gases causing global warming that we send into the atmosphere, many millions will die. . ."
