Instructions . . .

How do you know when you’re at the end?
Where will you go?
After so long the marina’s become your friend.
There’ll be a day when your ship comes in.
Take it in stride.
You keep it slow, keep it steady, and all in time.

Half of the T-head on E, Albert.
Half of the T-head on E.
How big’s your boat gonna be Albert,
When you are free?

Albert always wore a smile on his face,
Never a trace of weariness.

No one thought Albert would do much more
Than they thought he would.
Albert, oblivious, struggled despite their scorn.
One little blink, he’s no longer there.
Blends with the crowd.
Sometimes at night he will cry
But it’s never loud.

Always one you’ll find in every crowd.
We sure could use some more like him.

What kind of man would do all the things that he should do?
What’s your reaction? Something you want? Can it be true?

But the perception so widely held
Is not all that good.
Such was the case, or was apathy what he befell?
Really, we’re all just like Albert too,
Just not as wise.
One bit of patience, no burden’s beyond your size.

Take your dreams and fly so far from this place.
Feel no regrets, no bridges burned.

Gathered . . .

Love,
Triumphs I’ve heard,
Over all.
Is it really true?
One
Many-splendored thing,
Conquering
Obstacles revealed.

Gathered for this occasion,
Politely civil in a social dance.
Mannerly; respectful discourse,
All in a room that’s full of elephants.

Talk,
Civility,
Must be maintained
So we don’t set them free.

How many people
Exist right here in this place,
So much the same?
Pride always goes
Before the fall so they say.
It’s like a parade.

Don’t
Think its your own
Imagination ‘cause its it’s real.
Though,
Circus-like true,
These pachyderms cannot be viewed.

Back . . .

. . . story of OHO

Around 1970 at a Baltimore club called "Bluesette," what would become OHO had its beginnings in a group known as Quinn. In 1971, Little Hans, a gothic-progressive quartet featuring two keyboardists, guitar and percussion, evolved from the Quinn lineup. In 1973, the keyboardist and some friends began a period of crazed experimentation that would lead to their most infamous incarnation OHO. This latest collaboration resulted in a debut album "Okinawa". In June, 1974 came the follow-up, "Vitamin OHO." The arrival of the new wave brought Dark Side, Trixy & The Testones and Food For Worms but each of these bands is subject enough for a story of its own. The 1984 version of OHO recorded "Rocktronics", a 7 song EP proving that the OHO moniker was synonymous with the word persistence. In 1990, the eponymously entitled "OHO" was released on Sky Records with acid-folk edginess and trademark lyrical unpredictability combining unwavering female vocals and crystalline production fueled by assiduous songwriting. The album was listed as an "editors' choice" for 1990 in CD Review (06/91 Vol. VII Number 10). In 1991 OHO signed with Little Wing Of Refugees based in Kastl, Germany releasing "Vitamin OHO" in 1991 and reissuing "Okinawa" in 1995  followed by  "ECCE OHO" on CD.  The 2002 OHO Music (OM052) edition of "Recollections" was also included as a CD bonus in Progression magazine #41, in the Fall 2002 issue. In March 2008 OHO released their retrospective 2 disc CD/DVD "Bricolage" consisting largely of previously unreleased sonic and video material (culled from their 1983-2008 "Mach III" phase), dominated by stunning female vocalization with tough lyrical musings, abundant hook-laden melodies, and intriguing arrangements of their jubilant, jangly folk/prog/rock. In 2010, former "Ful Treatment" keyboardist and musical collaborator Ray Jozwiak joined the group resulting in a  [Power] trio for live performances of original material and sophisticated cover tunes, as founding member Jay and long-time veteran David continue their creative adventures in the studio with Ray and a host of fine and varied musicians and technicians in pursuit of the elusive rock'n roll dream.

No Regrets . . .

When I start into thinking
About the things that might have been,
I find that my imagination has no end.
And though they’re not without their own attraction,
I can see, each time you look at me,
I am exactly where I want to be.

And maybe I’ll never have that house in the country.
You won’t see me visiting those ritzy discotheques.
But I have no regrets.
No I have no regrets.
See I have no regrets.
No regrets . . .

It’s a human kind of feeling.
It’s one that everybody knows
At least one time, if not another, as they grow, I do suppose.
And though these things cross everybody’s mind
I’ve got the key grasping reality.
It’s the dessert I’m glad I didn’t eat.

Everybody is searching for something
That they’re afraid they might have missed.
And no matter how hard that you’re wishing
To have a second chance.
Don’t regret that you missed the dance,
Because the past is the past and you’re not gonna change it.

If it looks like I am distant,
Like I don’t hear a single word,
All the times that I’m not listening, but you think I really heard,
It doesn’t warrant any serious
Concern, you see. It’s still the same old me,
And like a glove you fit me to a T.

A Capella . . .

(from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_cappella)
". . . A cappella . . . Italian for 'in the style of the chapel'. . .  music is a performance by a singer or a singing group without instrumental accompaniment, or a piece intended to be performed in this way. The term a cappella was originally intended to differentiate between Renaissance polyphony and Baroque concertato musical styles. In the 19th century, a renewed interest in Renaissance polyphony, coupled with an ignorance of the fact that vocal parts were often doubled by instrumentalists, led to the term coming to mean unaccompanied vocal music. The term is also used, rarely, as a synonym for alla breve. . ."

I’ve never been one to follow trends.
I won’t be with the crowd
When they round the bend.
But I’ll be here until the very end
‘Cause, where it’s at is here with you.

Fancy parties leave me cold and drained,
Discos, crowds and posturing in vain
Only feed some silly appetite unnamed.
Where it’s at is here with you.

I don’t want to see the moon,
Fly to Paris, May or June.
I just want a one-way fare
To anyplace where you’ll be there.

I don’t need gold or precious things,
Fancy clothes or even diamond rings.
I just want the thrill that being with you brings.
‘Cause, where it’s at is here with you.

For fame or power, I have no desire.
I don’t crave acceptance, or to be admired.
I’m just happy sitting with you by the fire.
Where it’s at is here with you.

Here With You

Devices . . .

I've got a charger for my phone.
My e-reader has one too.
The laptop's useless without one
So charging's what I do.

The iPad without juice will die,
Several hours will suffice.
But thankfully, no power renewal's
Required by this device.

Ahead . . .

I am a firm believer that competition is highly over-rated, and though it may appear that this song is about competition, it is in fact simply a love song, and not.

You've always been ahead of me;
One fact that I,
In my infinite wisdom,
Could not always see.
But in the end you always convinced me
Things aren't always
What they appear;
The things I've always looked for.

Once long ago, before we met,
I thought I could
Singlehandedly make the
Spinning world go away;
Just like some king
from back in those bygone days.
But I was wrong.
I don't belong
Inside this category.

Seemed to be,
At the time to me,
To my advantage.
Missing why,
Not knowing
When to try
To start believing
In my very own
Self determination.

Sometimes at night when I'm alone,
The solitude
And the quiet can bring out
All the worst in my head.
But now it seems that isn't so big or bad.
I've learned a thing,
Or maybe two,
And just ahead there’s always you.

Catalog . . .

. . . girl

Her eyes say ‘come closer’.
Her hair falls down her shoulders like a blanket on her skin.
If you do you’ll never win.
She looks the same at every man.
That look says ‘I’m confection.
You can’t have a taste unless your doctor says you can.’

Her lips purse ever-so-slightly.
You think she wants to invite you out to spend some time with her.
The whole routine becomes a blur.
She says it all without a word.
She looks like pure perfection
And you’ll never ever see the likes of her again.

But she’s mine.
I know she’ll never leave me.
She’s fine,
And she’s never deceived me.
Other eyes admire and desire her too
And she smiles in response to all glances
From those who care to see all of her delicate lines
On the page where you’ll find
The two dimensions of my catalog girl.

They all say ‘she’s not bright.’
But when the spotlight is lit you can see her business sense.
It’s sincere intelligence.
She works so hard at what she does.
Intensity and concentration on her face shows
She is so much more than fluff.

Her shape’s like a tape.
She weight one-hundred-eight
And she looks so appealing
In clothing revealing.
Her heart’s on her sleeve.
That’s what you should believe.
She practices that come-on look.
Improves it more in every book.
She is the epitome of catalog girl.

One day soon
She will no longer possess the assets of those bygone days.
The years will pass just like a phase,
Nothing but memories in a haze.
And though her star will fade,
A little glory will remain upon a table near the chaise.

Directly . . .

. . . or indirectly, his involvement in the conception of this song 'Can't' be denied. Click on the title below to listen.

". . . He (George Orwell, pseudonym of Eric Arthur Blair) was born in Bengal, into the class of sahibs. His father was a minor British official in the Indian civil service; his mother, of French extraction, was the daughter of an unsuccessful teak merchant in Burma (Myanmar). Their attitudes were those of the “landless gentry,” as Orwell later called lower-middle-class people whose pretensions to social status had little relation to their income. Orwell was thus brought up in an atmosphere of impoverished snobbery. After returning with his parents to England, he was sent in 1911 to a preparatory boarding school on the Sussex coast, where he was distinguished among the other boys by his poverty and his intellectual brilliance. He grew up a morose, withdrawn, eccentric boy, and he was later to tell of the miseries of those years in his posthumously published autobiographical essay, Such, Such Were the Joys (1953). . ."

Perspective . . .

(from https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2022/04/ricky-gervais-pitches-his-own-jada-pinkett-smith-oscars-joke/amp)
". . . Five-time Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais is known for courting controversy with his comedy. As such, he pulled no punches while sharing how he might have handled Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. . . When asked about the Jada Pinkett Smith jab that provoked the actor (“G.I. Jane 2—can’t wait to see it”), Gervais dismissed it during a recent Twitter live, calling Rock’s line, “like, the tamest joke I would’ve ever have told.” The comedian then insisted that Smith wouldn’t have become violent if he had been onstage. “Nothing would happen to me because I wouldn’t have told a joke about his wife’s hair. I’d have told a joke about her boyfriend,” . . . Gervais previously tweeted his hypothetical Oscar monologue ahead of the ceremony. “I’d start with ‘Hello. I hope this show helps cheer up the ordinary people watching at home,” he wrote. “If you’re unemployed for example, take some comfort in the fact that even if you had a job, your salary probably wouldn’t be as much as the goody bag all the actors have just been given.’” Gervais continued, “I’m proud to announce that this is the most diverse and progressive Oscars ever. Looking out I see people from all walks of life. Every demographic under the sun. Except poor people, obviously. Fuck them.”. . . "

Dance . . .

My musically-formative years were spent playing the accordion. My father also played the instrument and was particularly fond of Latin dances and melodies. These were just many of the influences I can identify in my music.

(from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tango)
". . . Tango is a dance that has influences from African, South American and European culture. Dances from the candombe ceremonies of former African enslaved peoples helped shape the modern day tango. The dance originated in lower-class districts of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The music deri--oved from the fusion of various forms of music from Europe. The words "tango" and "tambo" around the River Plate basin were initially used to refer to musical gatherings of slaves, with written records of colonial authorities attempting to ban such gatherings as early as 1789. . . Initially, it was just one of the many dances, but it soon[when?] became popular throughout society, as theatres and street barrel organs spread it from the suburbs to the working-class slums, which were packed with hundreds of thousands of European immigrants. . . When the tango began to spread internationally around 1900, cultural norms were generally conservative, and so tango dancing was widely regarded as extremely sexual and inappropriate for public display. This led to a phenomenon of culture shock. Additionally, the combination of African, Native American and European cultural influences in tango was new and unusual to most of the Western world. . ."

Fly Punk . . .

I’m just a fly on the wall.
I’m like a worm in your driveway.
Maybe you can see me
And maybe you can’t.
I’m just a fly on the wall.
I’m like a worm in your driveway.
You got me right where you want me to be.
But in a minute you won’t.

Non-Fungible . . .

(from https://www.nbcnews.com/pop-culture/viral/youtube-includes-nfts-new-creator-tools-rcna15813)
". . . Weeks after suggesting that the platform would branch out into NFTs, or nonfungible tokens, YouTube announced plans to integrate the burgeoning technology into its creator tools. In a blog post Thursday, YouTube's chief product officer, Neal Mohan, wrote that the expanded creator monetization tools would include selling NFTs. . .Mohan’s blog post said Web3, an umbrella term for the third phase of the internet based on transparency ledgers like blockchains, “opens up new opportunities for creators.”. . . "We believe new technologies like blockchain and NFTs can allow creators to build deeper relationships with their fans," Mohan said. "Together, they'll be able to collaborate on new projects and make money in ways not previously possible.". . . The expanded tools will give a "verifiable way" for fans to "own unique videos, photos, art and even experiences" from their favorite creators, he wrote. . ."

Thoughts . . .

A love song,
In every sense of the term,
'Thinking' took shape
From a concept so firm.
I can't quite remember
What my influence was
For the style or the vibe.
Doesn't matter because
The sentiment's real
And it comes from my life.
Like so many of my love songs,
It's inspired by my wife.

Revisionist? . . .

. . . right, wrong, guilty, innocent, "critical war crime theory"???

Yes, the U.S. has committed a lion's share of war crimes. Does this mean that the U.S. may not object to what is happening to Ukraine and its many innocent citizens? The U.S. must take responsibility for its past as well as for responsibility for our fellow man today.
