Choice . . .

I perceived the clarinet sample in the program I used to create Incidentally Broken did not have sufficient dynamics to approximate a bass clarinet when played in the lower register. I believe the bassoon sample (utilized in this mix) is more fitting and blends nicer with the remaining instrumentation.

Here. . . give a listen . . .

Choice . . .

Dear National Democratic Party,
I just read https://www.politico.com/news/2020/01/31/dnc-superdelegates-110083 and hope to (whatever I should hope to, since i don't believe in a theistic, invasive) god that the Democratic party does NOT make the same mistake it made in 2016. . . PLEASE let the people make their choice and DO NOT pit a candidate that is NOT fully supported by the general, Democratic population against trump. Please LEARN from history (circa 2016.) WE WILL end up with four more (unbearable) years of the orange imbecile if you do not learn this vital lesson from the last election. . . I beg you. . . PLEASE let the populace make the choice!!!

A Choice . . .

(from https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/clinton-kept-his-party-him-stop-impeachment-trump-s-approach-n1062501)
". . . With Trump apologizing for nothing, Republicans are left either to endorse his behavior or to criticize it and then face uncomfortable follow-up questions, such as: Since the president doesn't see anything wrong with what he did, why wouldn't he do it again? And since you see what he did as a problem, don't you have some responsibility to stop him? And if you do see it as troubling, then what have you done to show that? . . . Trump's posture essentially forces any Republican looking to stand with him against impeachment to agree that his actions have been "perfect." Republicans may end up doing just that, especially if Trump's approval with GOP voters remains stratospheric. But he's not making it easy for them. . ."

More happy . . .

Want to be happy
Listen here
What would you pay to
Have no fear
Fear of the raptor
Roaming free
Fear of a captor
You or me
Do you fear having your choices
All being taken away

There was a turmoil
We could see
Under the table
Had to be
Way far beyond us
In the fray
We wore the blinders
They slipped away
So many promises made
To a misguided parade of the innocent

Circumstances pushed so many over the edge
Sideways glances directed to drive in a wedge

Want to be happy
Bet you do
Want to be happy
In the things you do
All’s not the same as it used to be
Conscious effort will help us break free

Happy

Which One . . .

. . . did he really mean? . . . or. . . does he even really know?

(from https://thehill.com/policy/defense/308364-trump-picks-mattis-for-defense-secretary-report)
". . .Mattis has been seen as a top contender for the job since he met with Trump earlier this month. . . After the meeting, Trump heaped praised on Mattis, calling him the “real deal” and a “brilliant, wonderful man.”. . ."

(from https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/23/us/politics/trump-mattis.html)
". . . After initially praising Mattis in announcing his resignation last week, Trump jabbed his top military official on Saturday, tweeted that he gave the retired four-star general "a second chance" after former President Barack Obama "ingloriously fired" him. Mattis led U.S. Central Command from 2010 to 2013, but his time at the helm was cut short because of disagreements with the Obama administration on Iran. . ."

Tough . . .

. . . choices???

. . . the CIA or Trump. . .

". . . Trump. . . said Tuesday that his administration would stand by Saudi Arabia's rulers and take no actions against them over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. . . the extraordinary statement . . .  called the "crime" against Khashoggi "terrible" and "one that our country does not condone.". . . But. . . stopped well short of pointing blame at Saudi Arabia — despite NBC News and other reports last week that the CIA concluded that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman ordered Khashoggi's killing — and cast questions over who killed the journalist. . . Never . . .

. . . in a million years
Could I have imagined
If it were possible at all
To live a million years
That folks would be so careless
In the choices that they make
Due to simple unawareness;
Lack of facts; one large mistake

I understand frustrations
And the powerless one feels
I appreciate the waiting
For some benefits to appear
But it may be mere misjudgement
That combined with pure disgust
Which led so many people
To choose what they thought they must

One More . . .

. . . "good" choice . . .

(from https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/23/us/politics/bolton-cambridge-analyticas-facebook-data.html)
". . . The political action committee founded by John R. Bolton, President Trump’s incoming national security adviser, was one of the earliest customers of Cambridge Analytica, which it hired specifically to develop psychological profiles of voters with data harvested from tens of millions of Facebook profiles, according to former Cambridge employees and company documents. . . Mr. Bolton’s political committee, known as The John Bolton Super PAC, first hired Cambridge in August 2014, months after the political data firm was founded and while it was still harvesting the Facebook data. . . In the two years that followed, Mr. Bolton’s super PAC spent nearly $1.2 million primarily for “survey research,” which is a term that campaigns use for polling, according to campaign finance records. . ."

Bears . . .

. . . repeating. . .
.

(from NBCNews.com) ". . . The following are Dr. Kent Brantly's prepared remarks given at a news conference at Emory University Hospital in August 2014, provided by his charity Samaritan's Purse:

"Today is a miraculous day. I am thrilled to be alive, to be well and to be reunited with my family. . . We moved to Liberia because God called us to serve the people of Liberia. . . As I lay in my bed in Liberia for the following nine days, getting sicker and weaker each day, I prayed that God would help me to be faithful even in my illness, and I prayed that in my life or in my death, He would be glorified. . . I have learned since, that there were thousands, maybe even millions of people around the world praying for me throughout that week, and even still today. . . what I can tell you is that I serve a faithful God who answers prayers. . . God saved my life — a direct answer to thousands and thousands of prayers. . . with the love and mercy of Jesus Christ. . . Please do not stop praying for the people of Liberia and West Africa. . . I am forever thankful to God for sparing my life . . . "

Guess the Doc never thought science, nature, germs and choices had ANYTHING to do with it, or why for that matter, his God chose him over the many Liberian folks who, presumably without the thousands of 'prayers' HE received, did happen to die.

More . . .

. . . money . . .

So I said
I've got a roof o'er my head
Some people can't even say the same thing
But it's still not a fact
I can take any comfort in
I want more to make up my legacy
I'm not poorbut everybody's telling me

Money can't buy everything
You've heard it time again
No money can't buy happiness
When will you learn this fact of life my friend

So I said
I've got my very own bed
I don't give it much thought
When I lay down my head
But it's cold and it's lonely
In December on the street
Why do you tell me these kinds of things
I want more of luxuries that wealth can bring

Money can't buy everything
You've heard it time again
No money can't buy happiness
When will you learn this fact of life my friend

I want to be a squire a king a country gentleman
If I can if I can
I want to get respect Ffor what I have
And not for what I am
Just a man just a man

So I said
It's more than daily bread
That I. . . . . . . .

Money can't buy everything
You've heard it time again
No money can't buy happiness
When will you learn this fact of life my friend

Roads . . .

. . . diverge . . .

People talk about all kinds of things
Like the weather
Like their politics
Like the things that they watch on TV
But still the roads diverge

Funny though all this chatter don't mean a thing
When compared with the wondering
When they speak of just how
The roads diverge

There comes a moment
You’re suddenly face with a choice
All that you thought that you
Knew becomes smoke
And all of your detailed and
Best laid-out plans
Have become just one
Great big joke

Some will cope
Some will agonize endlessly
Pleading take this away from me
This decision I face
When roads diverge

Fail . . .

NPR, of all media outlets, the very one frequently held as the gold standard of electronic journalism, has failed us. . . and this is not the first time. According to NPR, Hilary Clinton is the only 'household' name Democrat considering a run for the presidency.  There you have it. Case closed. Over-simplified?  Yes!  True though?  Yes!

But there are other, (and yes, possibly BETTER-qualified) well-suited candidates which NPR has failed to tell us about.  Not only have they failed, they have subliminally told their audience that there is virtually no choice.  Is that what NPR is SUPPOSED to tell us???

One of the (many) problems with our electoral system is the media's heavy influence over it.  A candidate is not serious if he can't afford the millions it takes to wage a campaign, which includes paying the media for the exposure it provides.

In spite of what NPR or any other 'news' outlet tells you, there truly ARE other potential Democratic candidates such as Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Luiz Gutierrez, Al Franken, Tim Kaine & John Kerry. . .and don't forget, independent ones either.

Blame . . .

I knew him when the world was still young
Sometimes I liked him but sometimes sometimes I didn't at all
But so little choice did I have
In the matter of just who I am

I watched him struggle with his tribulations
Wanting to lend some kind of a helping hand
Still any amount of advice I would offer
Was just so much spam

Can't you see people like you and me
Are so much the same
After all we're the ones standing tall
We took all that life had to give
There's no one else to blame

He lived an average life in an average place
Who ever gets to choose his own time and space
He never fit into a crowd
If he thought he belonged there somehow

He felt emotions torn between two extremes
Yearned to belong but fueled by some other means
The kind not so easily explained
And the kind he could feel but not know

Can't you see people like you and me
Are so much the same
After all we're the ones standing tall
We took all that life had to give
There's no one else to blame

The springtime came dressed to the nines
We never heard of reading between the lines
Then summer we thought we were grown
As autumn fast approaches
The seeds have all been sown

I try to visit once every now and then
There's not a lot that we have in common now
But in spite of present demands
There's a laugh and some memories again

Can't you see people like you and me
Are so much the same
After all we're the ones standing tall
We took all that life had to give
There's no one else to blame
