Facebook responds:  "We don't have information on that just yet, we're slowly learning how to respond to other types of requests. Check out the Help Center for additional support or choose from our options below."

Am I mistaken or should the Facebook Help Center be able to "Help" with a problem such as this?

BB:   "Obama was one of the instigators of the “fake news” panic that has put Facebook in the establishment’s CROSSHAIRS following the election of Donald Trump. "
ME:  I realize fake news was addressed to, and originated with, both political 'camps.'  "Panic" though? What panic?  Why Breitbart (and fox also, I'm sure) panic, of course. In any case, I suppose those of us non-NRA members are not part of the establishment putting Facebook in the CROSSHAIRS!  And though, no particularly ardent fan of Barack Obama, I believe these folks put forth an convincing argument (or any kind of thesis at all) with the first sentence accusing Obama of being one instigator of the 'panic' etc. to which I've already referred.

ME:  Meaning, I surmise, that I, as part of the aforementioned 'establishment' must be concerned for some reason?

The document, “Building Global Community,” argued that until now, Facebook’s corporate goal had merely been to connect people. But that was just Step 1. ME:  Nebulous, yes. But to which part of it did you object?


BB:  "Facebook’s spokespeople then called the New York Times Magazine reporter to clarify the CEO’s comments, which the reporter interpreted as an attempt to counter the perception that the new manifesto was “partisan” and “anti-Trump.”"
ME:  Seems the reporter possesses interpretation and perception issues.


BB:  "Facebook’s spokespeople later called to stress that Obama was only one of many people to whom he had spoken. In other words: Don’t read this as a partisan anti-­Trump manifesto. But if the company pursues the admittedly airy aims outlined in “Building Global Community,” the changes will echo across media and politics, and some are bound to be considered partisan."
ME:  Now Facebook's spokespeople AND the reporter seem to have issues. AND, if this can in any way be viewed as a partisan issue, then my takeaway is that Obama and Facebook opponents (republicans?  Trump-ites?) are anti-Global Community (read isolationist?).

How often have you thought, "Hey, could I be a songwriter? I get these ideas from time to time. Sometimes words or phrases just pop into my head. I never write them down because, well, I'm not a songwriter." Really? Why NOT?

You might be surprised to learn that that's just one of the many way in which songwriters collect their song ideas. How many ways ARE there? Find out this coming Tuesday night at Germano's.

"The Thoughts Behind The Songs" at Germano's cabaret brings you close to three seasoned writers and a jazz pianist as they explain the process that brings their music to life.

Join me and Ellis Woodward, John M. Seay, Sahffi Lynne and Ray Jozwiak as they explain the process that preceded each of their songs. Ask questions! Don't be surprised if there's a different process for each song. Armed with this information, who knows what you could become!?!?
Tuesday March 28th. Tuesday night means light traffic and easy parking. Germano's 300 S. High St. in Little Italy. Come for dinner and the show. Doors open at 6pm. The show starts at 7:30pm. There's a $10 charge in addition to whatever pleases you from Germano's very tasty menu. (I have personal experience with the menu.)

Why . . .

. . . must I see those 'sponsored' "I'm With Her" things on Facebook.  I am definitely NOT!  (It would be different if it was called "I'm With Stupid" like the t-shirts.)

Anyway, is there any way to get rid of these posts???   I did not friend her.  I really, truly do NOT want to see these things.

Today, 11/06/15: Off to Bill Pratt's Woodlawn production studio (The Bratt) to collate the score of tunes intended to grace our forthcoming compilation of tunes about Maryland (& related topics) by local musicians/bands (The MD/CD). These will be then handed over to engineer/producer/author Tyree Ford for mastering. When I get this finished master back, then begins the arduous task of (for me) securing licenses authorizing the use of 5 of the 6 cover songs ("Baltimore," "Barefoot in Baltimore," "Raining in Baltimore," "The Streets of Baltimore" & "The Lady Came From Baltimore") as well as assembling the credits; then (for David Pugh) creating an attractive graphic package. Is that "Ode to Baltimore" somewhere in this compendium? Time will be the wiser. . "

Anna Stoehr became an Internet celebrity at age 113, when she owned up to fibbing on her Facebook account so she could join the social network. It was an unpredictable turn of events for Stoehr, who was born before the Wright brothers took their historic first flight. She died Sunday at age 114. "Anna lived alone on her farm in Potsdam, MN until she was 112," local KARE 11 TV reports. "She and her husband Ernest had farmed together. He passed away in 1998 at the age of 97." Facebook, whose software could not (and still cannot) account for a birth date before the year 1905, "sent her a bouquet of 114 flowers for her most recent birthday," the AP reports. Stoehr's story spread after her son Harlan, 85, went to a Verizon store to buy a phone for his mother. When she had trouble joining Facebook, she wrote the company a letter that included the line, "I'm still here." . . . The social network wasn't the only way Stoehr embraced technology late in life. When KARE 11 spoke to her before her birthday in October, she was using an iPad to hold video chats — in German — with a friend. "That's an aspect of my mom," Harlan told KARE in October. "She's been curious about everything all her life and continues to be curious about it."

Rant . . .

Bill Maher's recent rant has stirred-up some Facebook reaction. Some good discussion took place in the show. One good line (from Nicholas Kristof) that I think we should take away from this, paraphrased, 'the chasm is not between Islam and the rest of the world, it is between fundamentalists and moderates in each religion.'

A Florida mom says her four-year-old was expelled from his preschool over a message she posted on her personal Facebook page. Ashley Habat says she and her son will were running late for school. It was picture day at Sonshine Christian Academy. “The administrator of the preschool checking him in she’s like “Well it’s picture day Will are you excited?” and you know he of course just went on to class but I had mentioned that they didn’t give enough notice. And she’s like, “Well we put it in his folder last week.” said Ashley Habat. So Habat says she took to Facebook, saying she just wanted to vent her frustrations. She also never thought the school would ever see her post. “They couldn’t see it, it was private to my friends only.” said Ashley Habat. The post read, “Why is it that every single day there is something new I dislike about Will’s school? Are my standards really too high or are people working in the education field really just that ignorant.” She tagged the school in the post. The next morning she received a call asking her to stop by when she drops off her son. “They just felt like we weren’t the right fit of parent relationship with the school and that they didn’t want him as a student anymore. He had done nothing wrong.” said Ashley Habat. According to the letter of dismissal, “Your relationship with Sonshine did not get off to a very good start the first day of school. You utilized social media to call into question not only the integrity but the intelligence of our staff. These actions are also consistent with sowing discord which is spoken of in the handbook you signed. “I was in shock. Why would you expel a 4-year-old over something his mom posts on her private Facebook page only people on her friends list can see.” said Ashley Habat. . .
