Sanders won with 82 percent in Alaska, 70 percent in Hawaii and 72 percent in Washington. That Washington margin was even bigger than the Sanders campaign expected — and significant, because there are 101 delegates up for grabs there. . . AP has not yet allocated all the delegates out of Washington State. More will be tallied in his column over the next several weeks, as the state party releases margins by congressional district. But if Sanders' share holds, when all's said and done, he could net more than 60 delegates out of Saturday. . .That's impressive and would cut into Clinton's pledged-delegate lead significantly, by 20 percent. . .It doesn't change the math much, but that might not even be the point. Sanders has a narrow path (laid out below in detail), but he is going to win in lots of places over the next two months in similarly sweeping fashion. Regardless of what happens, when people look back on this 2016 Democratic primary, Sanders won't be dismissed as a gadfly or fringe candidate, as he was treated at the beginning of this campaign. I have to be so scared of political opponents gaining power that it is worth it to sacrifice even the hope of being able to get ahead, have a savings cushion, access healthcare, send our kids to college, retire, or just not feel like we’re constantly living on a knife’s edge, all because of fear of a potential future. . . If you think it is reasonable to fear the opposition more than to hope for having a better life — then I’m guessing you live a fairly comfortable life and don’t feel strong motivation to change it. . . maybe you don’t really understand what you’re asking of me when you advise me to make decisions based on “practicality.” And notice, I’m not even saying you’re wrong. What I am saying is that for me to choose Hillary over Bernie right now is to literally choose to give up on the best chance we have ever had to finally become a reasonable, civilized nation, and say instead “No, we can’t do it, I am too scared of what might happen. . .” "

Hopeless . . .

. . . Romantic . . .

I guess I really used to be much more of a romantic than I am now.  That's not to say that I still don't harbor some romantic notions.  The thought only crossed my mind recently while watching some episodes of the 'old' (I say with much reservation) television series 'Ally McBeal'.  Now THERE (the character Ally McBeal) is a 'hopeless romantic' who feels that a potential romantic ideal exists for everyone and she is bound and determined to find hers.  In the last episode I watched, one of two founding partners (it's still early in the show's run) of the law firm where she is employed, tells Ally (I'm paraphrasing) that she should never lose her 'romantic' notions.  And I think maybe there is something inspirational about that.  Pragmatism, divorced of all hope of something greater; something that transcends our mundane everyday existence, is woefully inadequate if one is to find meaning in life.  Life offers us so much more . . .
