". . . Trump did have some valid and important insights into America’s current problems and he had a chance to do something about them when he got elected. That opportunity has been wasted, however, and Trump’s flaws as a politician, strategist, and human being are the main reason why. . . Trump and Bernie Sanders were the only candidates to acknowledge that globalization was not delivering as promised, and his message resonated with lower- and middle-class Americans who were deeply worried about lost jobs, flat income growth, and lax immigration controls. . . Trump’s vanity, stubbornness, poor taste in advisors, and other deficiencies of character have led to repeated disappointments at home and abroad. . . " [Plus, unlike the boisterous incumbent, Sanders is a principled and articulate thinking man who can honestly respond to an inquiry about a position he held 35 years ago.]
(from https://www.nbcnews.com/think/opinion/trump-s-2020-chances-look-bright-thanks-his-democratic-rivals-ncna1053456 By Keith Koffler) with comments from moi:
". . . Among the most enviable and least recognized qualities of a presidential candidate is something they share with lottery winners and bowling champions: A talent for dumb luck" . . .
Right on the the lottery, but it seems to me that bowling most certainly requires a fair amount of skill
". . . And for those politicians blessed with this wholly undeserved and unearned gift, the most valuable form of it, the lucky break coveted over all others, is a lousy opponent. President Donald Trump demonstrated such talent in abundance in 2016 when he faced the widely despised Hillary Clinton". . .
No disagreement here
"This is not to say Trump won’t earn the presidency. Or that he did not in 2016 either. He adroitly tapped into a gold mine of discontent with the established order, understanding the anger in the hinterland far better than the professional politicians and pundits who couldn’t see the problems with the establishment because they were part of it. But he also got lucky with his opponent — and he barely won". . .
Yes! BARELY! And 'earning' is not the word I would choose to describe how he got into office. Furthermore, I hope 'earning' (at the present time) includes 'performing' and 'accomplishing' as well as 'comporting', none of which can be attributed to this president
". . . As if to ensure his reelection, the Democrats have come up with former Vice President Joe Biden as the alleged front-runner — at least according to current polls — anointing him the most electable of the lot". . .
Unfortunately, very true.
". . . (Biden) called the actual commander in chief “President Hump,” . . .
Quite possibly not unintentional, unless he meant to say 'Lump'?????
proclaimed a preference for truth over facts and briefly relocated mass shootings that had occurred in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio to Houston and Michigan.
". . . Former San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro blew the dog whistle on Biden’s mental state as loudly as possible. “Are you forgetting already what you said just two minutes ago?” he demanded after the former VP denied he had said people would have to buy into his health care plan". . .
Take heed Democrat/Biden supporter. This is an indication of something.
". . . the former vice president has been veering from the truth himself, including recent claims that he opposed the Iraq War from the beginning, that he didn’t oppose busing and a story about pinning a silver star on a service member in Afghanistan. . . "
See above.
". . . Neither of the two leftist Democrats running not too far behind Biden, Sens. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts or Bernie Sanders of Vermont, holds much chance of winning the presidency in a country where, according to the 2018 Election Day exit polls, a significant portion of voters consider themselves moderates". . .
Possibly, but '2018 exit polls'. . . C'MON!!! Either Warren or Sanders would, in the election, scare the orange shit out of this clown.
". . . Booker and former Rep. Beto O’Rourke. . . [are] nowhere in the polls". . .
The POLLS!!?? C'MON. You press guys and your polls should be a little more humble after calling your horse in 2016!!
". . . if we cannot trust (Sarah Huckabee) Sanders to tell us the truth about things like the firing of the FBI director, how can we trust her when she’s briefing the American people about a school shooting or a hurricane or an adversarial foreign power’s efforts to undermine our elections? Why should any reporter believe any statement she gives ever again? . . . Sanders isn’t the White House press secretary as much as she is America’s main minister of propaganda. Make no mistake about it, Sanders isn’t a “complicit” bystander to the “porn star presidency,” she is a partner in it. . ."
". . . So Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) made more than 1 million dollars, much thanks to his best-selling book. Rarely is turning such a profit in an industry as dicey as publishing better news for your enemies than you, but so it goes: Sanders’s critics are thrilled. . . there is something to say in defense of Sanders as a consistent politician and an honest broker, which is really what his detractors are out to dispute. . .Sanders’s complaint isn’t that millionaires exist per se. After all, if America’s household wealth were distributed evenly across the population, then every family of four would have a net worth of $1.2 million. Sanders’s critique is that the United States’ super-rich are symptomatic of a system that churns out a small class of extremely wealthy people who rule over the vast remainder. . . (whose) largesse allows them to wield disproportionate, anti-democratic political power by funding campaigns and lobbying politicians . . . (none of this) compromises the final integrity of Sanders’s politics nor implies he’s insufficiently serious about them, especially after so many decades pushing the same policies with no best-selling books or millions to show for it. . ."
" . . . But asked if she (Nancy Pelosi) thought Trump was "fit" to be president, Pelosi said, "No. I don't think he is. I mean, ethically unfit. Intellectually unfit. Curiosity-wise unfit. No, I don't think he's fit to be president of the United States," she said, before chiding herself for "coming across too negatively.". . . Responding to Pelosi's comments on Monday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said, “impeachment should never be on the table because the president is doing a great job.”. . . As for Pelosi's comments on Trump's fitness to be president, Sanders said, “Most of America disagrees with her comments. That’s why they voted him into office.” Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by almost 2.9 million votes. . . "

(from http://usuncut.com/politics/dnc-email-leak-exposes-bias/)
". . . On Friday, the whistleblowing website leaked approximately 20,000 emails that were allegedly sent by top Democratic National Committee staffers like chairperson Debbie Wasserman Schultz (who referred to a top Bernie Sanders aide as a “damn liar“) national press secretary Mark Paustenbach, and communications director Luis Miranda. This data dump is “Part One” of a series from WikiLeaks they are calling the “Hillary Leaks,” and Guccifer 2.0 has taken credit for the hack behind this first set of emails from the DNC. . . The emails show an unprecedented level of collusion between top party officials and political reporters at establishment newspapers, as well as DNC staffers obviously favoring Hillary Clinton while devising ways to attack Bernie Sanders. . . In one email with the subject line “Bernie narrative,” Paustenbach ponders a way to attack the Sanders campaign as “never having their act together” with Miranda, suggesting they plant a narrative in the media that the Vermont senator’s presidential campaign “was a mess.” . . . Despite Wasserman Schultz repeatedly denied allegations that she was favoring Hillary Clinton in the primary, but WikiLeaks’ emails expose her treating the Sanders campaign as an adversary. . ."

(from http://nbcpolitics.org/hillary-is-not-ahead-by-3-million-votes-and-thats-just-math/)
". . .Shaun King made an interesting point that could change the way we view the entire Democratic primary race. What King revealed in his groundbreaking article is that the 3 million vote advantage Clinton holds is a lie. . . According to King, primary races don’t just include voters going out and casting a ballot. Instead, many states hold caucuses in which a group of representatives vouch for their candidate. The candidate with the most representatives in the room wins in that district, and the candidate who wins the most districts is the winner of the state. . . What happens in these cases is that individual votes are not gathered, therefore no votes go to the winning candidate. . . Bernie Sanders has tended to win most caucusing states. Though Sanders may take more than 70 percent of the caucus vote, these numbers don’t translate to individual votes — they add nothing to the overall count. So, states with millions of Sanders supporters are not counted among the millions in competition with Clinton’s big numbers as a result of this system. . ."

". . . More Democrats urged Sanders on Wednesday to take a stronger stand against the uprising by his supporters in Nevada and said he did not go far enough in condemning the violence there.
"That was the time to have sent a full-throated message to his followers: that we don't do this kind of thing," US Senator Dianne Feinstein said on CNN.
Democrat Barbara Boxer, the other US senator from California, was at the Nevada convention and expressed her concern to Sanders in a phone call on Tuesday night. "I feared for my safety and had a lot of security around me," she told CNN. "I've never had anything like this happen.". . . "

(from https://shadowproof.com/2016/04/20/sanders-campaigns-commitment-victory-irritates-media-offends-clinton-campaign/#)
". . . for the umpteenth time in the Democratic presidential primary, there is a dominant narrative in the establishment news media that it is over for Bernie Sanders. News outlets have crunched the numbers, again, and after the loss to Hillary Clinton in New York, conventional wisdom is Sanders cannot win. . . Such harping is presented as if it is a neutral perspective solely based on mathematics that is not driven by any influence the Clinton campaign may have over media institutions. However, the fact is there are 1,400 pledged delegates left to win in contests. Clinton has 1,442 pledged delegates while Sanders has 1,209 pledged delegates. It’s a lead of 233 pledged delegates, which he could still overcome in June, especially if he continues to surge in California—a state with 475 delegates to be won. . . To put it more concisely, Sanders has a path to victory. His campaign is not all but done. It would be all but done if there weren’t over a thousand pledged delegates to be awarded. That is not the case. . .The Sanders campaign is in the midst of a war for a nomination that will give voters a viable alternative to two oligarchs in November, and it is not about to quit now. . ."

". . . In politics, perception is reality, and both Caesar and his wife must be above suspicion. The perception is out there that despite clear language in the Democratic National Charter Article 5, the DNC and its chair have been trying to influence the outcome of the primary process. "SECTION 4. The National Chairperson shall serve full time and shall receive such compensation as may be determined by agreement between the Chairperson and the Democratic National Committee. In the conduct and management of the a airs and procedures of the Democratic National Committee, particularly as they apply to the preparation and conduct of the Presidential nomination process, the Chairperson shall exercise impartiality and evenhandedness as between the Presidential candidates and campaigns. The Chairperson shall be responsible for ensuring that the national officers and staff of the Democratic National Committee maintain impartiality and evenhandedness during the Democratic Party Presidential nominating process. . . And yet despite this the DNC has been involved in:
1. Scheduling primary debates to garner as few viewers as possible.
2. Grassroots Clinton field offices being co-located at DNC offices.
3. The attempted dismantling of Bernie Sanders’ campaign over one staffer’s mistake.
4. The DNC finance chair caught raising money for Clinton.
5. The DNC lining up super delegates for Clinton before first debate.
6. Created a hostile work environment that forced Rep Gabbard to resign as Vice Chair.
7. Using the press and their own private agitprop machine to keep the super delegate myth going. "Unpledged delegates exist, really, to make sure that party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists,” according to Chairperson, Debbie Wasserman Shultz.
8. Either thru negligence or conspiracy has allowed wide spread voter suppression and fraud affect numerous states, the most egregious being what played out in Arizona.
9. Painted New Democrats and independents looking to join the party, as outsiders and interlopers. Whether true or not, Debbie Wasserman Schultz has allowed the impression that the primaries are rigged, and that they have already hand picked their nominee. This has led not only to impugning the integrity of the process, but the possibility of fracturing the party beyond repair. Therefore we the undersigned Democrats, Independents looking to join a Democratic Party, and progressive Americans; ask that you, as Distinguished Leaders of the Party, call an emergency meeting of the Democratic National Committee, investigate these and any other charges, and if warranted remove Ms Wasserman-Schultz as Chair. In what may be the most important election of our lifetime, we cannot afford to go limping into battle. We need the Party to unite, not around a candidate; but around the principles that made our party great. This year we need a candidate not mired in the scandal of perceived political cronyism; and with the current leadership that seems impossible. For the good of our party, please help us save it. . . "
