Acknowledgement . . .

You can’t solve a problem until you admit the existence of the problem.  How often does a problem just go away? You can  always ignore a problem, but that won't resolve the problem. If denial is your first resort, excuses will probably be your second. After you admit there is a problem, you can explore resolving it. Without problems, there is no life. If you can’t face problems, those problems will recur. As the old adage states, you can't continue to do the same thing repeatedly and expect to get different results.

Hopeless . . .

. . . Romantic . . .
I guess I really used to be much more of a romantic than I am now.  That's not to say that I still don't harbor some romantic notions.  The thought only crossed my mind recently while watching some episodes of the 'old' (I say with much reservation) television series 'Ally McBeal'.  Now THERE (the character Ally McBeal) is a 'hopeless romantic' who feels that a potential romantic ideal exists for everyone and she is bound and determined to find hers.  In the last episode I watched, one of two founding partners (it's still early in the show's run) of the law firm where she is employed, tells Ally (I'm paraphrasing) that she should never lose her 'romantic' notions.  And I think maybe there is something inspirational about that.  Pragmatism, divorced of all hope of something greater; something that transcends our mundane everyday existence, is woefully inadequate if one is to find meaning in life.  Life offers us so much more . . .

If You're There . . .

The archbishop of Canterbury - the spiritual leader of the world's 80 million Anglican Christians - has admitted he sometimes doubts whether God actually exists. Justin Welby made the comments during a relaxed interview in front of an audience at Bristol Cathedral, in England. "There are moments, sure, where you think, 'Is there a God? Where is God?'" The archbishop, who is also the leader of the Church of England, added that his admission was "probably not what the archbishop of Canterbury should be saying."

The speech was made last Friday and uploaded to YouTube. It was first highlighted by the Guardian newspaper on Thursday. Welby said he found himself doubting the existence of God during a recent jog. "The other day I was praying over something as I was running and I ended up saying to God: 'Look, this is all very well but isn't it about time you did something – if you're there' – which is probably not what the archbishop of Canterbury should be saying" . . .
