Who's With Me?
I wish that I could TEACH
the art of empathy,
requiring that all
earn their master's degree.

So few of us will pry
our eyes off of our screens
to look at what goes on
in life behind the scenes.

I see the little girl
so EAGER for a home,
a mommy and daddy
who'll love her as their own.

I see the teenage boy
attempting to look FIERCE;
a moment of your time -
through his facade you'd pierce.

I see the single mom
whose dreams went up in SMOKE
the day "Prince Charming" left
her beaten, pregnant, broke.

I see the Veteran
with STERLING in his hair,
he sees our HOLLOW looks
and how little we care.

It's time we look around
with eyes that truly see
and show our fellow man
a little empathy.

My monthly expenses our around $125 a month for High speed Internet, Phone, Netflix, Insurance, and tabs. Gas is dependent on travel winter months are spent in the warm southwest hardly moving at all. Summer months are spent at cool higher elevation and moves are more frequent. Then theres food, wobbly pops,water, and entertainment. Entertainment is usually free provided who your neighbors at the moment. Only had to pay for water once in 3 years and it was 50 cents for 40 gallons. . ."

Change of plans has made it necessary for me to do two things that I never do.  First, drive three hours to my destination (if you count driving back home the next day, that would be three things) and finding (that would translate: begging) for a place to sleep for a few hours.  In any case, I think I can pull this off.

Don't Drink the Water . . .

. . . or, in this case, don't eat the burgers. . . 
Can't, in any good conscience, endorse the food they serve at that Scottish restaurant on the the clown commercials.  But I can say that the Ronald McDonald House is a breath of fresh air in world where many seem to place continuously decreasing value on the lives of their fellow human beings.  I had the opportunity to provide some Gonzo Piano music at mealtime at one such house and found it a wonderful experience.

Many families travel far from home and spend several weeks or months to get treatment for their seriously ill or injured children – a long time to be away or to divide a family. And, for children facing a serious medical crisis, nothing seems scarier than not having mom and dad close by for love and support. A Ronald McDonald House is that “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost.

Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. It Was Murder. . .

. . . in our Avalon . . .

This town's like the one they sang about
in The Green Green Grass of Home
All the perfect picket fences
And gingerbread cottages in a row
Brightly colored walls on every house
And if figure on the lawn
Peace and calm
I found where I belong
Til the murder in our Avalon

You could hear the children laugh and play
All their games on any day
Pretty Moms and Handsome Daddies
Would walk hand-in-hand down the street
Any summer night
You could never find another place
Where your life would be so good
I considered this my jackpot won

Now and air of uneasiness
