Roads . . .

. . . more and less traveled . . .

People talk about all kinds of things
Like the weather
Like their politics
Like the things that they watch on TV
But still the roads diverge

Funny though all this chatter don't mean a thing
When compared with the wondering
When they speak of just how
The roads diverge

There comes a moment
You’re suddenly face with a choice
All that you thought that you
Knew becomes smoke
And all of your detailed and
Best laid-out plans
Have become just one
Great big joke

Some will cope
Some will agonize endlessly
Pleading take this away from me
This decision I face
When roads diverge

Fine . . .

. . . print . . .

". . . The (supreme) court’s opinion sets up a historic legal clash in which the justices will weigh the president’s power to set national security priorities against the need to protect individuals from discrimination based on their religious beliefs or national origin. . . In saying they would take the case, the justices partly endorsed the administration’s view that the president has vast authority to control who crosses the border. They said the president’s powers to limit immigration “are undoubtedly at their peak when there is no tie between the foreign national and the United States.” . . . But the opinion also signaled that some of the justices might believe that Mr. Trump exceeded even that broad authority when he twice sought to impose a blanket ban on entry to the United States from certain predominantly Muslim countries. . ."

When In Rome . . .

. . . do as the Romans
(from http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/When+in+Rome)
". . . When in Rome (do as the Romans do).
Prov. Behave however the people around you behave. Adapt yourself to the customs of the places you visit. Jill: Everyone in my new office dresses so casually. Should I dress that way, too? Jane: By all means. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

Ricky . . .

. . . Bobby

(from https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/general-europe/fashion-aka-not-looking-completely-like-a-tourist) Posted by Tom, Lewiston, NY, 02/06/15 08:41 PM
"Though Rick does a fantastic job of talking about this subject," No. He doesn't. Not at all.
"We know not to bring shorts at all (though we are going in May)." Europeans generally don't wear shorts as casually as Americans, but if it's hot you'll see plenty of people in shorts. Not people going to and from their jobs, but all the visitors and people enjoying their leisure time, European or not. This is one of the those outdated stereotypes that somehow refuses to die, along with the French not using deodorant or European women not shaving their armpits. All that being said, depending on where you visit, it may not be warm enough for shorts anyway. . . .

. . . even if you somehow did get the cut and style completely right, your body language and travel accessories will instantly peg you as a tourist to anyone who's paying attention.

Just More . . .

. . . sound waves . . .

(from http://www.explainthatstuff.com/sound.html)
". . . Sound is the energy things produce when they vibrate (move back and forth quickly). If you bang a drum, you make the tight skin vibrate at very high speed (it's so fast that you can't usually see it), forcing the air all around it to vibrate as well. As the air moves, it carries energy out from the drum in all directions. Eventually, even the air inside your ears starts vibrating—and that's when you begin to perceive the vibrating drum as a sound. In short, there are two different aspects to sound: there's a physical process that produces sound energy to start with and sends it shooting through the air, and there's a separate psychological process that happens inside our ears and brains, which convert the incoming sound energy into sensations we interpret as noises, speech, and music. . .

Sound is like light in some ways: it travels out from a definite source (such as an instrument or a noisy machine), just as light travels out from the Sun or a light bulb. But there are some very important differences between light and sound as well. We know light can travel through a vacuum because sunlight has to race through the vacuum of space to reach us on Earth. Sound, however, cannot travel through a vacuum: it always has to have something to travel through (known as a medium), such as air, water, glass, or metal. . ."

Meet Me at the Pizza Bar Tariq . . .

(from Tradewindsnews.com)
"It appears that a relaxing luxury cruise to Turkey is a good way of preparing for the hardships of fighting in the wasteland of Kobane. The international police organization, Interpol, is calling for airline security checks to be extended to cruise lines as some of those hoping to fight in Syria and Iraq are now going by sea. Interpol's counter terrorism chief, Pierre St Hilaire, said there was evidence that jihadis were taking cruise ships to the Turkish port of Izmir. Carnival’s Costa Crociere subsidiary, MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line are among the operators offering voyages that include calls at Izmir. St Hilaire had no details about how many would be jihadis were taking a cruise to war but up to 15,000 foreign fighters are reported to have joined Islamic State and other groups fighting in Syria and Iraq. "Because they know the airports are monitored more closely now, there's a use of cruise ships to travel to those areas," added St Hilaire. Interpol wants to extend its I-Checkit program that allows airlines to check passenger information to cruise lines and others that might be able to detect extremists going off to fight. But the trade body, Cruise Lines International Association, claims that shipping companies are already taking security as seriously as the airline industry."

You don't have to. . .

. . . travel to the record shops, the Best Buys, Targets, WalMarts or the mall. You don’t have to decide whether to pay cash, write a check or use your credit card. You don’t have to lug it home and leave it under the car seat, and go outside in the rain (or snow) to get it after you’ve dragged your groceries, dog food, dry cleaning and six pack in from the car, forgetting that it was even under that car seat. You don’t have to clutter your countertop with that pesky little receipt which you can’t decide whether to throw away, recycle or file, and that your usually leave on the countertop, only to move it back and forth between that countertop and kitchen the table (sometimes the dining room table, for variety) because you couldn’t make the aforementioned decision. You don’t have to add another plastic bag to your already monumental collection which occupies a prominent place in your kitchen, laundry or mud room which frequently find their way to the ocean only to asphyxiate some innocent little sea creature or sit for innumerable years in the trash heap at your local landfill. You don’t have to struggle with that indestructible cellophane wrapping and cut a 2 x 3/4 inch gash in the tenderloin part of your right (your left if you are right-handed) hand using a steak knife to break through, or scour the house for that little plastic ‘cd opener’ which you have so wisely stored in ‘A GOOD PLACE’ which, as we all know, is the place where you will never find it until you have absolutely NO NEED for it! Which, of course, will prompt you to search for a band-aid, which you meant to buy last trip to the grocery store but forgot because you didn’t write it on your grocery list after you used the last one (probably the last time you bought a cd). You don’t have to struggle with that permanent, impenetrable tape that they put at the top of the jewel case and that only comes off in ½ millimeter strips instead of all at once, if and when you can pry off a corner. You don’t have to find a space for it on that over-crowded book-shelf, cd rack or the bottom cupboard of your entertainment center which is already over-stocked with Barney videotapes and chick-flicks that you can only bear to watch once, even though you thought they were funny and that you’d like to own them (the chick-flicks, not the Barney tapes). You don’t have to jam up the cd player in your car because you forgot Dean Martin’s Greatest Hits was still in there and you forced it into the slot anyway to find now that you can’t listen to either of them, or any other cd for that matter. . . or discover that the batteries in your personal cd-man only have enough power to illuminate the display that shows you are low on battery power. . . or find that your cd changer in your stereo has changed. . . it now DOESN’T work (which leads you back to Best Buy, Target etc. above, but that’s another story).

All you have to do is:
purchase it online
download
sit back and listen

Bet you wouldn’t have it any other way!
