Highs & Lows . . .

Just look at the morning paper
And tell me what you see.
Is something very wrong
Or maybe my eyes deceive me?
Somewhere in the local section,
A buried paragraph;
Someone who had the time to care
And the character to act.

The higher the highs,
The lower the lows.
The older I get
That's the way that it goes.
The more that I think that I want
The less that I need,
Because I realize how precious
And how short
This time with you may be.

When you're young and your biggest worry's
What game you want to play,
Such innocence is just surpassed
By the naivete.
Take good with the worst
And better.
You know they're not the same.
Youth somehow brings them all together.
Different they are,
But subtle the shades.

Youth really
Is only wasted,
If never
You've tasted
All the bitter
As well as sweet.

I hope you don't misunderstand me
Or what I want to say.
It's nothing revolutionary.
Ignorance won't make this go away.
Nobody likes a busybody.
Nobody knows it all.
There's one thing I can tell you certain,
Take none for granted;
Short or the tall.

Both deserving the good and the just

We all are human
With wants and needs
Our differences- surface at best
Can we stop for moment
And think about this
Stop pretending that someone is less?

Roads . . .

. . . more and less traveled . . .

People talk about all kinds of things
Like the weather
Like their politics
Like the things that they watch on TV
But still the roads diverge

Funny though all this chatter don't mean a thing
When compared with the wondering
When they speak of just how
The roads diverge

There comes a moment
You’re suddenly face with a choice
All that you thought that you
Knew becomes smoke
And all of your detailed and
Best laid-out plans
Have become just one
Great big joke

Some will cope
Some will agonize endlessly
Pleading take this away from me
This decision I face
When roads diverge

Moore . . .

You never want to hear. . .

. . . another word from me again. Never wanna have to see my face at your door. If there's so much as the mention of my name, you can feel an uncontrollable fit of pain. I'm the one that you said you would love til the bitter end. This must really be, this must really be the end. Nothing could be fitter. This must really be, this must really be the end. Make no mistake, it's bitter.

You never want us to be seen again in public places. Can't explain it to another friend how it goes. You say there's torment that you feel inside from many things. I can tell you that I still don't know what that means. Long ago we were friends far removed from the bitter end. This must really be, this must really be the end. Nothing could be fitter. This must really be, this must really be the end. Make no mistake, it's bitter.

There's no candy coating to make it go down easier; not so simple to digest; no bright colors and no exotic flavors sweetening.
What you see is what you get.
