Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, and Senate majority leader ACTUALLY said:
“After so many years of sluggish growth, we’re finally starting to see some economic data that can provide a glimmer of hope; the uptick appears to coincide with the biggest political change of the Obama Administration’s long tenure in Washington: the expectation of a new Republican Congress. So this is precisely the right time to advance a positive, pro-growth agenda.”

During the election cycle, McConnell constantly accused the President of destroying the economy. As McConnell whined, economic conditions just kept getting better and U.S. job growth reached a 15-year high last year.

Never mind all those bothersome facts, now McConnell wants credit for the recovery’s unexpected strength. McConnell took his time to come up with this rhetorical trick. Two days before Christmas, when Americans learned that GDP growth in the third quarter of 2014 reached an 11-year high, McConnell said . . .  nothing.

Elizabeth Lauten, a Republican Senator's staff member who criticized the President's daughters' dress and demeanor during the 'sacred' Pardoning of the Turkey (perhaps a Republican ruse to rationalize some perceived guilt?) ceremony recently has resigned.

Well, good and good.

But now the stories say the careless, indiscriminate, sanctimonious 'lady' (as if THAT isn't enough) was actually guilty of shoplifting way back when she was knee high to a grasshopper.

I ask you, WHO REALLY GIVES A flying F#*ck**g Sh*#t?????  Am I mistaken or aren't the folks who found THAT tidbit really just about as bad as she is???   (not WAS????)

Wanted . . .

. . . a new dawn . . .

Sen. Stacey Campfield of Knoxville, TN wrote recently that (paraphrasing) the bragging of
Democrats about the number of people registered for insurance under the Affordable Care Act was like bragging about the number of mandatory registering for train rides to concentration camps in the 1940s. 

Even fellow members of his own political party said the statement was ignorant, repugnant, outrageous, pathetic and hateful. Campfield later announced that he (SURPRISE!) stands by his statement.  The Senator was also sponsor of a failed bill that sought to ban teaching about gay issues in public schools and shortly thereafter claimed that HIV and AIDS originated from a man having sex with a monkey and that it was nearly impossible for AIDS to be contracted through heterosexual sex.

I most certainly wish the human race my absolute BEST in the years to come but we are not going to get anywhere if we continue to elect people like this to public office and then devote airtime to their inane rantings!. . . in that order.

Unresolved, in fact . . .

Conclusions by both the FBI and NTSB are suspicious, at best, with regard to what really happened.
Some convincing evidence does exist but to date, no one has been held accountable for what appears to be an assassination.

 ". . . Once again, Wellstone seems to have been a nemesis for big business.  However, Wellstone posed an even more significant and costly threat to corporate profit-making interests. He tried to enable the 2002 defense appropriations bill to bar corporate tax dodgers from being eligible for defense department contracts.  Additionally, he successfully amended the Homeland Security bill to bar those companies from getting contracts with the new "Department of Homeland Security." Both amendments passed on the Senate floor by voice votes.

After the November election - and after Paul Wellstone's tragic death - the final version of the homeland security bill gutted the Wellstone amendment. His bills were obliterated by enough waivers to assure that corporate lobby groups would indeed land the billion-dollar defense contracts we have now seen, especially in Iraq.  Similarly, a mental health reform Wellstone had championed, which would have required insurance companies to provide mental health coverage on a par with physical health coverage if their policies cover both, has been successfully blocked, one more indication that the loss of "the conscience of the Senate" continues to make a difference. . ."

Dear Senator. . .

. . . Mikulski,
I have chosen "Other" as my message topic because you list neither Syria nor War.  Your list does include "Defense" but nowhere do I see "Offense."

Writing to tell you that after my letter to you, pleading to disapprove of any military action against Syria, I just heard on the radio that you support the President's plan for military action.

I know you can't act based solely upon my advice, but after hearing that the majority of the U.S. population is against such military action in Syria, I can't help but think that you are ignoring the wishes of your constituents.

Can you please respond to this and provide an honest accounting of the opinions that you have received from the people you represent in the state of Maryland?

U.S. Senator Max Baucus -- known as the "Senator from K Street" because of his ties to corporate lobbyists -- is retiring! Former Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer, a bold progressive populist who supports single-payer health care, would be a strong ally of Elizabeth Warren and lists Paul Wellstone as one of his heroes wants the job. If you're in Montana, let Baucus know where to find the exit by shaming him for voting with gun manufacturers against 79% of his constituents who want background checks. While Max Baucus takes millions from Wall Street, insurance companies, and special-interest lobbyists, Schweitzer is one of the most popular public figures in Montana precisely because he fights big corporations.

Asked about his political heroes, he says, "One is Teddy Roosevelt, who took on the trusts, who recognized—as we ought to recognize today—that corporations are controlling not just our governments but our everyday lives, and there needs to be some equity for families and small businesses. It was Teddy Roosevelt who recognized that there are some pieces of land on this planet that are so special that they need to be conserved for future generations. It was Teddy Roosevelt who warned us about getting into foreign entanglements: “Speak softly, carry a big stick . . and the second would be Paul Wellstone, for many of the same things. Paul Wellstone was the conscience of the United States Senate. When other Senators would line up and cower behind the curtains of big insurance and the military-industrial complex because of their huge campaign contributions...it was Paul Wellstone who often times was the one vote when 99 votes went the other way.
