True . . .

. . . colors . . .

What are you trying
To hide from me
Do you think that your protests
Can change what I see
So much is so obvious
Quite clear and so true
From the clouds of this bluster
Real colors show through

Completed . . .

. . . the composition

How will we be remembered?
Will our names live on?
Will the seeds that we sowed
Reap the glorious fruit we intended?

Adulatory panegyrics
Vituperary insolence
Commendatory highly glowing complements
Enthusiastic lionizing
Discourteous ill-manneredness
Impertinence and disrespect

It’s so funny how interpretations are made
When the color’s transformed by each factor
In every foundation that’s laid

Why would I ask more?
Why even ask at all?
Self-indulgence?
One higher purpose
I had in mind

All the years
All the times
All events that have all transpired now
Seem impotent
At the least, weakened
Things that we fought for so long ago

Insolence

True. . .

. . . colors . . .

. . . when I finally escaped what I perceived to be the 'land of make-believe' and graduated from college, I told practically everyone I knew that I would never go back to school, ever.  About five years later, I went back to school. Call it maturity. Call it wisdom. Call it pragmatism, but I re-entered the world of academia in pursuit of a Masters Degree (in business administration, in fact) about five years later. Never regretted it. I began to see the beauty in higher education.  I also realized that I actually have a desire to learn, something I still possess. But being involved in business, since the 'music' business is so frequently insufficient to provide adequately for a family, my higher education was quite useful. But academically speaking, an irony that became evident during this period is that no matter how much someone (someone being a 'worker' within an organization) complains about the antics of a superior (within their own workplace), when (and IF) they attain a position of supervision or management, they actually engage in conduct far more extreme than those of which they originally complained.  In other words, they show their true colors . . .

Shifting . . .

Adding addition textures, colors etc to another Graboski gem. Some steinway, electric piano, vibes, chimes and sub-phatty.  Musical food for thought.  Rough mix.  More to come. Great fun.

The Same . . .

. . . old song . . .

(from http://www.diversityinc.com/news/dear-trump-not-black-people-live-inner-cities/)
“I would be a president for all of the people, African Americans, the inner cities,” he said. “Devastating what’s happening to our inner cities. . . “You go into the inner cities and — you see it’s 45 percent poverty. African Americans now 45 percent poverty in the inner cities. The education is a disaster. Jobs are essentially nonexistent,” he continued. “And I’ve been saying in big speeches where you have 20 or 30,000 people, ‘What do you have to lose?’ It can’t get any worse.”

(http://www.ontheissues.org/Celeb/Hillary_Clinton_Welfare_+_Poverty.htmSource: 2016 PBS Democratic debate in Wisconsin , Feb 11, 2016)
"I am concerned about what's happening in every community in America, and that includes white communities, where we are seeing an increase in alcoholism, addiction, earlier deaths. I'm going to do everything I can to address distressed communities, whether they are communities of color, whether they are white communities. I particularly appreciate the proposal that Congressman Jim Clyburn has--the 10-20-30 proposal--to spend more federal dollars in communities with generational poverty."

Gone . . .

. . . are the days when men ruled the world.  Over are the times in which men held the upper hand simply because they could beat the crap out of any woman who disagreed.  History has taught us that no situation remains long in place that was established through brute force. And like the marginalization of Jews, people of color and homosexual persons we must (to paraphrase John Shelby Spong) cleanse ourselves of our distorted past in order to restore integrity and honor to our society. We must embrace this enlightenment, rejoice in it and celebrate it.

NOT . . .

. . . because of skin color, not because he wasn't 'tough' enough with Putin, not because of the ACA (well, maybe that one too- but not for the popularly held conservative reasons), not because he uses a teleprompter, not because he spoke to elementary schoolers standing on a 'my ABCs' carpet. . .

NO. . . but this president concerns me because. . .

(from http://rt.com/usa/obama-ndaa-detention-president-288/)
". . . President Barack Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act of 2013 . . . giving his stamp of approval to a Pentagon spending bill that will keep Guantanamo Bay open and make indefinite detention for US citizens as likely as ever.

The president inked his name to the 2013 NDAA . . . to little fanfare, and accompanied his signature with a statement condemning a fair number of provisions contained in a bill that he nevertheless endorsed.

The NDAA, an otherwise mundane annual bill that lays out the use of funds for the Department of Defense, has come under attack during the Obama administration for the introduction of a provision last year that allows the military to detain United States citizens indefinitely without charge or trial for mere suspicions of ties to terrorism. Under the 2012 NDAA’s Sec. 1021, Pres. Obama agreed to give the military the power to arrest and hold Americans without the writ of habeas corpus, although he promised with that year’s signing statement that his administration would not abuse that privilege.

In response to the controversial indefinite detention provision from last year, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-California) introduced an amendment in December 2012 that would have forbid the government from using military force to indefinitely detain Americans without trial under the 2013 NDAA. Although that provision, dubbed the “Feinstein Amendment,” passed the Senate unanimously, a select panel of lawmakers led by Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Carl Levin (D-Michigan) stripped it from the final version of the NDAA two week later before it could clear Congress. In exchange, Congress added a provision, Sec. 1029, that claims to ensure that “any person inside the United States” is allowed their constitutional rights, including habeas corpus, but supporters of the Feinstein Amendment say that the swapped wording does nothing to erase the indefinite detention provision from the previous year. . ."

Black & White. . .

(from wikipedia.com)
Black-and-white as a description may be considered a misnomer in that the images are not ordinarily starkly contrasted black and white but combine black and white in a continuum producing a range of shades of gray. Further, many prints, especially those produced earlier in the development of photography, were in sepia (mainly for archival stability), which yielded richer, more subtle shading than reproductions in plain black-and-white. Color photography provides a much greater range of shade, but part of the appeal of black and white photography is its more subdued monochromatic character.

Black & White (then Back) is also the name of my latest solo piano release and describes the range of colors experienced by my very own fingers on the keyboard as I attempt to express my innermost emotions through acoustic grand pianoforte compositions and improvisations, captured digitally and included in this collection.

See what I mean . . .

Bitter. . .

 . . . End
(revisited)

You say you never want to hear a word
From me again
Never want to have to see my face
At your door
If there's so much as the mention of
My name
You can feel an uncontrollable
Fit of pain

I'm the one
That you said
You would love
Til the bitter end

This must really be
This must really be the end
Nothing could be fitter
This must really be
This must really be the end
Make no mistake it's bitter

You never want us to be seen again
In public places
Can't explain it to another friend
How it goes
You say there's torment that you feel inside
From many things
I can tell you that I still don't know
What that means

Long ago
We were friends
Far removed
From this bitter end

This must really be
This must really be the end
Nothing could be fitter
This must really be
This must really be the end
Make no mistake it's bitter

There's no candy coating
To make it go down easier
Not so simple to digest
No bright colors and no
Exotic flavors sweetening
What you see is what you get

You never want to have to hear a word
From me again
Never want to have to see my face
At your door
If there's so much as the mention of
My name
You can feel an uncontrollable
Fit of pain

With one fell
Swoop you sent
Me direct to the bitter end

This must really be
This must really be the end
Nothing could be fitter
This must really be
This must really be the end
Make no mistake it's bitter

Sick. . .

. . . and tired. . .

. . . of Obama bashing, well, simply because he is Obama.  I’m not sure if it’s a subjective thing like, his face, his ears, his smirk or maybe even, (yes Virginia, I’m afraid it’s true) his color.   I’m just sick and tired of it.  I don’t want to hear about his birth certificate (if that’s a REAL issue which his haters were able to uncover but the election officials were not before the election to his first term, then the haters should be pursuing the election officials), his salary cut, his dogs or even, although they are beautiful, his kids.

Let me be clear.  I am not an Obama fan.  But none of the reasons above have anything to do with why I am not an Obama fan.  The reasons below however, do. . .

    •    20,000 Airstrikes (First Term) Cause Death and Destruction From Iraq to Somalia.
    •    Signed the NDAA into law - making it legal to assassinate Americans w/o charge or trial.
    •    Escalated the CIA drone war in Pakistan.
    •    Maintained a presence in Iraq even after "ending" the war.
    •    Sharply escalated the war in Afghanistan.
    •    Secretly deployed US special forces to 75 countries.
    •    Sold $30 billion of weapons to the dictatorship in Saudi Arabia.
    •    Opened up deepwater oil drilling, even after the BP disaster.
    •    Did a TV commercial promoting "clean coal".
    •    Signed the Patriot Act extension into law.
    •    Continued Bush's rendition program.
    •    Signed the Monsanto Protection Act into law.
