". . . Disco is a genre of dance music containing elements of funk, soul, pop, and salsa that was most popular in the mid to late 1970s, though it has had brief resurgences. Its initial audiences were club-goers from the gay, African American, Italian American, Latino, and psychedelic communities in New York City and Philadelphia during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Disco also was a reaction against both the domination of rock music and the stigmatization of dance music by the counterculture during this period. Women embraced disco as well, and the music eventually expanded to several other marginalized communities of the time. . ."

". . . The featured performer tomorrow night, Monday, September 21, is making up for a snow cancellation for the second year in a row – we hope he won’t make it a hat-trick this coming winter! Our good friend ANDREW McKNIGHT wears a bunch of different hats – he is a skilled musician on a number of instruments, a talented songwriter and singer of songs (both solo and with his band, Beyond Borders), and an excellent raconteur and storyteller. On top of that, he is a really nice guy – we like him a lot! Come and check him out – he is constantly entertaining!

      Monday’s Piano Prelude will be played for us by the one-and-0nly ROCKIN’ RAY JOZWIAK, whose style is akin to jazz pianist Keith Jarrett.  Rockin’ Ray will also rock out a bit as part of our house band later in the evening – he sounds more like Bill Payne of Little Feat in this portion of the evening… During Ray’s prelude and for the rest of the evening, Christian will be taking care of our food and drinks, assisted as usual by Steve…

    Three-song cameos come from our good friend TOM DEWS, back in the area on a rare visit, plus Ron’s Pick KATY HYLTON Poetry will be from JOHN HOLLY, and I’ll throw in a poem and a couple of songs late in the evening. TOMY WRIGHT is away this week.

      MISTER RON GOAD will be in charge of the percussion section this week, which may be just him, but could also include talented pinch-hitter TIM BRADY . . . "

A gender-neutral pronoun, by contrast, is a pronoun that is not associated with a particular grammatical or social gender and that does not imply, for instance, male or female. Many English pronouns are gender-neutral, including they (which in certain contexts can also refer to a singular antecedent such as everyone, a person, or the patient).

Many of the world's languages do not have gender-specific pronouns. Others, however – particularly those that have a pervasive system of grammatical gender (or have historically had such a system, as with English) – have gender specificity in certain of their pronouns, particularly third-person personal pronouns.

Problems of usage arise in languages such as English, in contexts where a person of unspecified or unknown sex or social gender is being referred to but commonly available pronouns (he or she) are gender-specific. In such cases a gender-specific, usually masculine, pronoun is sometimes used with intended gender-neutral meaning; such use of he was also common in English until the middle of the twentieth century but is now controversial. Use of singular they is another common alternative. By using "he" or "she" the speaker may make assumptions about gender identity. Some people express their identities more ambiguously and appearances can be deceptive. Some attempts have been made, by proponents of gender-neutral language, to introduce invented gender-neutral pronouns.
