Just Plain . . .

. . . funny

(from http://www.edrants.com/in-defense-of-chrissie-hynde-why-npr-needs-to-change-and-why-david-greene-is-a-sexist-fool/, an NPR interview by David Greene with Chrissie Hyde)
". . . Greene: People certainly thought in its day [sic] as being very different and really emboldening women.
Hynde: Okay, well I’m not here to embolden anyone.
From here, the NPR producer cuts away in aloof and hilarious fashion to a lengthy clip of “Brass in Pocket” to pad out time, leaving the listener wondering what embarrassing (and possibly more interesting) bits were left on the cutting room floor. . . If Greene had truly been interested in Hynde, he might have described her in less innocuous and truer terms. Moreover, Greene can’t even deign to praise the Pretenders. Instead, he gushes over the Rolling Stones rather than the band that Hynde has been a member of:
Greene: And the Rolling Stones. They came — I mean, I, I loved reading about how you sort of took some of the staging off to take it with you, almost as a souvenir.
Hynde: Yeah. Do you want me to repeat the story?
Greene: I’d love you to.
Hynde: Is that the question?
Greene: No. I’d love you to.
Hynde: Can I just not repeat the stories that I’ve already said in the book? Can we talk about things outside of that? Is that possible? I don’t want to do a book reading, as it were. . ."

Stating . . .

. . . the obvious . . .
. . . in a country that refuses to help itself . . .

(from https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-morally-unfit-be-president-comey-says-tv-interview-n866196)
".  . . President Donald Trump is such an indiscriminate liar that he sometimes doesn't even know he's lying, former FBI Director James Comey said in an interview with ABC News that aired Sunday night. He said Trump was "morally unfit" to hold his office. . . "Our president must embody respect and adhere to the values that are at the core of this country, the most important being truth," Comey said last week, according to a transcript of the entire interview that ABC News published Sunday night. "This president is not able to do that. He is morally unfit to be president.". . . Trump lies are so promiscuous that "sometimes he's lying in ways that are obvious, sometimes he's saying things that we may not know are true or false, and then there's a spectrum in between," Comey said, according to ABC News. . . "

Dear . . .

. . . NPR,

During a recent, morning show interview of a political, Christian, rapper, your reporter asked his guest if he would be voting in November. The musician said that yes, he would, first carefully choosing his local representatives and then added that he will cast a vote for a presidential candidate, but that candidate would not be Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton. To that, your reporter responded to the effect that, 'aren't you concerned that in so doing, you are not participating in the election at all, or not voting?'  To his credit, the rapper had a quick, considered and intelligent response which in short said simply - NO.  I, for one, agree with the latter's response and find your reporter's question (as many other questions and posits I have heard from them during this election cycle) contemptible.

". . . many voters will be looking at third party alternatives this year. But most will categorically reject minor party candidates, dismissing a vote for anyone other than Clinton or Trump as a wasted ballot. Such thinking is deeply flawed and very dangerous for America’s future. . . The belief that voting for a candidate destined to lose is a waste confuses voting with betting. Unlike the lottery, there is no immediate reward for picking the winning candidate. And, by voting for the “lesser of two evils,” each voter marginally helps a bad candidate take office. . ."

Compromise . . .

. . . is Essential . . . in life.   Why not in government?

An excerpt from a CBS 60 Minutes interview with Representative John Boehner, who was then about to become Speaker of the House following the Republican success in the 2010 congressional elections:

JOHNBOEHNER: It means working together.

LESLEYSTAHL: It also means compromising.

[ . . . ]

BOEHNER: I made clear I am not going to compromise on my principles, nor am I going to compromise . . . the will of the American people.

STAHL: And you’re saying, “I want common ground, but I’m not going to compromise.” I don’t understand that. I really don’t.

BOEHNER: When you say the word “compromise”. . . a lot of Americans look up and go, “Uh-oh, they’re going to sell me out.”

[ . . . ]

STAHL: . . . you did compromise [to get all the Bush tax cuts made permanent]?

BOEHNER: . . . we found common ground. STAHL: Why won’t you say–you’re afraid of the word.

BOEHNER: I reject the word.2

So Sam, . . .

(from Jay's recent post on the OHOMusic Facebook page . . . )
Jay: "So Sam, Have you aired the (WTMD 05/15/14) OHO interview? If not, do you intend to air it? Inquiring minds want to know. I won't be hurt if you have changed your mind; but I would be disappointed that what was discussed did not reach the level of interest or entertainment of some of your other guests, the bar having been set rather low, not by you; but by them."

Sam: "Hey Jay, I haven't aired it yet -- my wife and I had our second child a couple months ago and I'm digging out from a mountain of work right now. I do intend to air it -- I'll let you know!"

Jay: "OK, thanks, congratulations and best wishes, double trouble & 2x the fun!!!"

Radio, Radio . . .

. . . Ah, but there will be MORE!!!!

". . . I’ve been meaning to email you for a little while now, and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long.
Got your package on OHO, and yes, I’m definitely interested in featuring the band on my show, Baltimore Hit Parade. I did Steptoe and Pooba as a Baltimore Backtrack, which is a feature where I catch up with Baltimore bands from back in the day. Would you or another member of OHO be interested in coming in for an interview next Tuesday afternoon or sometime during the day next Thursday? We’re at 1 Olympic Place off the circle in Towson. . . "

. . . well hell yes, we WOULD be interested in that.  More Shortly. . .

Radio Radio . . .

Jay's interview on Seacrets radio in OC went really well.  The Ditty sounded great.  The staff reacted favorably.  And Oho was invited to play, live on the radio.  All's right with the world.

A Pot . . .

. . . or the kettle . . .
(from http://www.today.com/entertainment/katy-perry-naked-female-pop-stars-put-it-away-8C11488069)
Naked pop stars, hear Katy Perry roar: In a recent interview with NPR's "Weekend Edition," the Grammy-nominated singer protested the ongoing nudity present among women in music these days, and said it was time to "put it away."

"I do see myself becoming this, whatever, inspiration out of default right now, 'cause it's such a strange world," she told Scott Simon during an Oct. 26 chat to promote her new album, "Prism." "Like females in pop — everybody's getting naked. I mean, I've been naked but I don't feel like I always have to get naked to be noticed."

Perry has pushed the envelope on her own nudity, posing on the cover of "Teenage Dream" in the nude (though covered in crucial areas), and has worn suggestive clothing in her videos, like a bra that shoots whipped cream ("California Gurls").

When Simon asked if she was speaking of any one particular too-naked musician, Perry demurred. "I'm not talking about anyone in particular. I'm talking about all of them. I mean, it's like everybody's so naked. It's like, put it away. We know you've got it. I got it too. I've taken it off for — I've taken it out here and there. ... I know I have that sexy card in my deck, but I don't always have to use that card."

. . . or DOES she???

Dear Mr. Radioman. . .

". . . I would like to send you a copy of my latest release (via whichever medium YOU prefer) Black & White Then Back in hopes of a review, interview or other airtime.

Creative Musician Ray Jozwiak's new, digital-download only, solo, instrumental piano music release  BLACK & WHITE then BACK transports you to aural locales inhabited by emotions, sentiments, memories, hopes, joys and challenges we've all encountered. You may even hear a snippet of a song you remember from childhood, have flashes of your first date, recall aromas from the kitchen when you visited your grandmother, remember your favorite summer vacation or when you fell in love.

BLACK & WHITE then BACK is available through digital distribution only (www.cdbaby.com).

"RAY JOZWIAK is back with his gonzo piano, boldly taking us to places no-one has gone before, not even him!  (Rod Deacey, Board Member of the Frederick Acoustic Musicians Enterprise (FAME), Musician, Performer, Writer, Poet, Organizer, Emcee, Bluesman 11/20/11
". . . Anywhere he dabbles along the piano keys, he produces sonic glitz forming impressionistic images. . . " (Susan Frances, cdreview.com)
". . . He’s got some terrific ideas there and an unusual approach to rhythm and song structure. These are fantastic assets and more than one of his songs could find tons of fans who appreciate music which isn’t the same ol’ same ol’ all the time. . . "  (Paul Sedkowski, Fairplayformusic.com)

I would like to send you (either digital music files via 'WeTransfer.com' or a physical CD-whichever you prefer) of my new release of solo, piano recordings.

Best regards,
-Ray Jozwiak. . ."
