Confusion . . .

. . . Don't confuse free speech with fiction . . .

(from https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/conservatives-flock-free-speech-social-media-app-which-has-started-n1232844)
". . . Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Ted Cruz, R-Texas, both announced on Twitter that they were moving to a new social media platform. . . . "I'm proud to join @parler_app -- a platform gets what free speech is all about -- and I'm excited to be a part of it," Cruz tweeted. . . Many others followed suit. Parler, founded in August 2018, touts itself as an "unbiased" social media platform focused on "real user experiences and engagement." In recent weeks, it has become a destination for conservatives who have voiced their disapproval of how mainstream platforms such as Facebook and Twitter moderate content. . . But as with every other platform on the internet, Parler's free speech stance goes only so far. The platform has been banning many people who joined and trolled conservatives. . ."

Intermingling . . .

. . . fact and FICTION . . .

". . . Donald Trump just threw his “proof” out the window by admitting that the Esquire interview came after the war started, which means that one Trump’s key talking points on foreign policy are by the candidate’s own admission a lie. . . Trump tried to wipe away his admission by claiming that it’s all the same thing, but there is a huge difference between opposing the war after it began, which a lot of people did once they realized that they had been lied to, and opposing the war before it started. . . It has gotten to the point where Donald Trump can’t keep his own lies straight. The Republican nominee tries to plaster over the gap between the facts and his fictions, by claiming a false equivalency. . . The facade is crumbling. Trump has another week to go before the first presidential debate, and the cracks are beginning to show. . . A man who so easily intermingles fact and fiction that he doesn’t care if keeps his own lies straight can’t be trusted to occupy the White House. . . "

Facts . . .

. . . and fiction . . .

Fox's Varney: "New Figures Suggest That Obamacare Will Be Much More Expensive Than We Thought."On the January 27 edition of Fox News' America's Newsroom, network host Stuart Varney claimed that the CBO's report showed that "Obamacare is going to be much more expensive than we thought" and that these "uncovered" costs are "going into our deficit projections." Varney didn't mention the CBO's finding that the ACA will cost less than expected. [Fox News, America's Newsroom1/27/15]

Fox's Hasselbeck: "Bombshell" Report Says Obamacare Will Cost "$50,000 In Taxpayer Money Per Person." During the January 27 edition of Fox News' Fox & Friends co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck reported on the CBO's new estimates, saying the estimated cost of Obamacare would be "two trillion dollars" or "$50,000 in taxpayer money" for every insured American, omitting that the price has actually fallen. [Fox News, Fox & Friends1/27/15]

Wash. Examiner: ACA Will "Spend About $2 Trillion." In a January 26 article, The Washington Examinerreported on the CBO's estimates on healthcare spending without noting that the analysis had actually lowered the cost of funding the ACA. Instead, the Examiner focused on the healthcare law's price tag of "about $2 trillion over the next decade":

The subsidies will cost the government less than originally expected, but are still substantial, the budget office said. “Subsidies in the exchanges are projected to average about $5,000 per subsidized enrollee from 2016 through 2018 and to reach almost $8,000 in 2025,” Mr. Elmendorf said.

It's fast becoming. . .

. . . my conviction that truth is really so much stranger than fiction.
Is that the way it ought to be ?
It's not my eyes that do the seeking. Even a blind man sees agenda we're keeping.
Is that the way it ought to be?
I never thought I'd be looking behind like I do. Not quite sure just what I'll see.
But I'm rarely surprised by the antics of many; surprised by the antics of few.

It's one thing that they never mentioned. Back in my school was only so much convention.
Is that the way it ought to be?
And now we find it's what we're teaching. We're all conditioned. See the numbers we're reaching?
Is that the way it ought to be?
How can we say there's a god in his heaven above watching, directing with love?
And while on bended knee, we proceed to make judgement on things that we don't like to see.

It's fast becoming my conviction that truth is really so much stranger than ficion.
