I know a man who tries too hard
Cause he wants to be liked both near and far.
But it's not all that simple a story to tell.
And I'm sure it all started way back when
He was only a child.
The whole world laying ahead of him,
He couldn't get what he craved.
An uphill battle awaited.
Then something clicked inside.

Maybe he's okay.
Not quite as bad as he seems.
Am I expecting too much?
It's not intentionally,
Maybe it isn't polite
Looking so critically.
Maybe I do it because
He's just not like me.

I know a man who talks so much.
He's got nothing to say but it's never enough.
And it's like second nature, he's as social can be.
But the topic is always strictly 'bout 'me'.
From his self-centered view;
His egoist perspective,
Subject of interest he's found
His world revolving around him.
The real one beyond his touch,
Along with people there too.

Please won't you understand.
I don't want every man
Doing just what I would do,
Or moving the way that I move
Or the way that I sit or stand.

The Place . . .

. . . we have reached

The recent funeral services (and accompanying media coverage) for U.S. Senator John McCain, were respectful, appreciative and seemingly non-partisan. 'Seemingly' is the operative word here. Many sources are available that question McCain's actual patriotism, bravery and present contradictions in the details of his life(the devastating fire and explosions that killed 134 sailors on the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal during the Vietnam War). I have always felt that death brings out the most generous forgiveness in we humans; take for example the demise of both Richard Nixon and Ronald Reagan. 

We can only imagine the 'heartfelt' tributes that will accompany the passing of Henry Kissinger. This can be interpreted as either good or bad. We are each, individually entitled to select those that we admire and choose to remember in longingly reverent fashion. I do however wish that the media would cover the past lives of public figures as actual news stories (i.e., presentations of factual information about accomplishments as well as failures) and not as fawning tributes to the deceased which disregard the latters' humanity, both good and bad.

Instead of preparing something meaningful to say to these American heroes, he chose to reveal his own ignorance in conversational banter. He could have acknowledged the place of importance that these men hold in their home communities, and how they continue to be role models to so many. He could've acknowledged the sacrifices they made despite the terrible crimes the United States has inflicted on so many Native people living within its borders. He could have, at the very least, acknowledged the Code Talkers' accomplishments somewhere other than in front of the portrait of the architect of so much mass death and displacement for indigenous people. . . . But he didn't, because he had no idea how great they were. And he has no idea how great they are, let alone who they . . . are.



Note:  These are not anomalies.  These are not gaffes.  Not only has he been accused of similar transgressions to those of Roy Moore, Louis C.K., Al Franken and Harvey Weinstein, in addition this person exhibits symptoms of a severe problem on a daily basis causing the general population of this country much suffering.
