A Fox News poll conducted from July 21 to July 23 had Trump at 75% disapproval among black registered voters, with 22% approval. In a Washington Post/ABC News poll conducted June 28 to July 1, 81% of African Americans said they disapproved; 18% approved. Both of those approval numbers were substantially better than the one in the new Quinnipiac poll, but still: On the whole, large majorities of African Americans were displeased with him. . ."

In the fall of 2007, when the housing and stock markets were collapsing, he downplayed it, writing in National Review that, “Despite all the doom and gloom from the economic pessimistas, the resilient U.S economy continues moving ahead quarter after quarter, year after year, defying dire forecasts and delivering positive growth.” Looking ahead to 2008—when the entire U.S. economy came crashing down and millions of Americans lost their jobs, and banks, automobile makers and mortgage lenders had it be bailed out to the tune of hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars—he said “we are about to enter the seventh consecutive year of the Bush boom.” . . . Anyone who thinks otherwise, he added with flair, “are going to wind up with egg on their faces.”. . . from 1993: “There is no question that President Clinton’s across-the-board tax increases on labor, capital and energy will throw a wet blanket over the recovery and depress the economy’s long-run potential,” Kudlow wrote. What happened next? The U.S. economy began an eight-year expansion, creating 21 million jobs—and the federal budget was balanced. . . Let’s hope that Kudlow’s forecasting skills have improved with age. . ."

Call . . .

Taking in my daily sustenance down at my local Scottish restaurant
When I noticed that my entree was more than I bargained for
Look what I got
The manager said there was compensation coming my way
But not today

Aunty Lynn said it would be a sin to waste my precious vocal expertise
So I took me to audition down at the prestigious theater called the Ritz
Producer man was nice as he could be
He said I was fine
But not this time

Seems I've been hearing the same thing since I don't know when
One with a little less confidence might just give in
I'm no one's fool unless I want to be

We danced and dined
I even kissed your hand
Under a twinkling sky
