Amazing thing, when I traded my old gear in for my first piano I got almost what I paid for the Leslie. For the Farfisa, I think I got about twenty bucks.

Principles . . .

Principles are ever so much more important than rules. Most folks find it much easier to follow 'the rules' than to think for themselves according to principles. . . "A principle internally motivates you to do the things that seem good and right. People develop principles by living with people with principles and seeing the real benefits of such a life. . . " A rule is purely external and many times forces us to do the things someone else has deemed proper. Do you want your kids to follow rules or live their lives making choices based upon principles. Certainly rules are necessary in many instances to maintain law and order. A proper basis in principles would preclude any good citizen from breaking laws anyway. But is thinking about what you really believe and know to be good just too painful?

Selling . . .

Sales Persons don't sell products. They sell themselves. They can disregard as many facts as they desire to accomplish their goal - making a sale. They know how to stir emotions. They take advantage of the emtional beings we humans are. They say all the right things to us. They promise to help. There is no desire on their part to sincerely help us. They want to sell. When caught up in their siren's song we feel understood and that we will soon be made happy by this person and her 'wares.' If we are not careful, and whether or not their product is what we need or actually everything they tell us it is . . . WE WILL BUY IT!

Thin Air . . .

When I woke up today I had all that I want
Everything that I did brought desired results
How could this be? All the rules have been changed
In the pool where I drowned I am swimming again.

But of course I am wrong. How could I understand
When my society tells me how tall I stand?
Then I take it inside and wait for life’s kiss
Which is sure to arrive ‘cause I’m riding my bliss.

What did I do? The world holds me up
Invisible hands grant the nourishing cup
Have I found a way that has always been there?
It seems to me it came out of thin air.

The child waking up brings the old crone to tears
Pushing through my disguise see the tips of my ears
How could this be all the rules have been changed
In the pool where I drowned I am swimming again.

When I blindly reach out to what I cannot see
Grace reappears and it rescues me
I’m not what I feel, I’m not what you think
I’m only what is and what isn’t in sync.

Part of Trump’s story was “Muslims are lunatics who want to slaughter your children, we can’t let them in!” Clinton would respond, “An intriguing Harvard School of Government study found our circa-2014 immigration vetting procedures were able to measure radicalization by five benchmarks that [audience loses consciousness].”. . . By contrast, a progressive story would say: “We’ve been bombing the Middle East for 60 years. People there are mad about it just like we were mad about 9/11. Until we stop bombing them a small number of Muslims will always want to retaliate, and some will pull it off no matter what we do to prevent it.”. . . "
