Baloney . . .

Using the Roger Stone Book of Baloney Politics (i.e. Make up shit because none of your fans will bother to research its validity) . . .

(from Facebook Paid for by Donald J. Trump for President, Inc.)
". . . Over the past week, millions of American patriots, like you, have signed petitions DEMANDING Democrats put America first and BUILD THE WALL. . . We FLOODED their offices with your petitions, but Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi continue to do the only thing they know...OBSTRUCT! . . . Chuck and Nancy are SOLELY responsible for this shutdown because using the safety and security of American citizens as a bargaining tool to play political games, is just plain WRONG. . ."

Games . . .

. . . people play and the lengths to which they'll go . . .

(thanks to http://www.mikethetiger.com/index.php?display=mike_history and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_the_Tiger and http://www.npr.org/2017/09/01/547270000/the-lsu-tigers-new-tiger-makes-his-debut)
Mike the Tiger is the official mascot of Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and serves as the graphic image of LSU sports. Mike is the name of both the live and costumed mascots. . .LSU's men's and women's sports teams are called the Fighting Tigers and Lady Tigers, respectively, and the university's football team plays its home games in Tiger Stadium. LSU first adopted its "Tigers" nickname in the fall of 1896. . . a reference to the state's Confederate heritage; the Louisiana troops of Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia became known as the Tigers during the Civil War in recognition of the bravery of two New Orleans brigades, the Tiger Rifles and the Washington Artillery (whose logo featured a snarling tiger's head). . . In 1934, Athletic Director trainer Chellis Mike Chambers, Athletic Director T.P. Heard, swimming pool manager and intramural swimming coach William G. Hickey Higginbotham, and LSU law student Ed Laborde decided to bring a real tiger to LSU. They raised $750, collecting twenty-five cents from each student, and purchased a two-hundred-pound, one-year old tiger from the Little Rock Zoo. . ."

Much like Lassie and other animals-for-entertainment, several Mikes have held the title?/position? over the years with a new 11-month-old Siberian-Bengal mix officially replacing Mike VI late last month — just in time for the start of school and football season.

Men Without . . .

. . . balls

The U.S. team should have refused to play.

(from http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/women-forbidden-attending-u-s-vs-iran-volleyball-game-n378356 from June 18, 2015)
". . . Women have been "forbidden" from watching Iran play the U.S. volleyball team . . . despite the government signaling it would loosen restrictions on females attending sports events. Earlier this month, Iran's Vice President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi announced that a limited number of women — mainly members of players' families — would be allowed at upcoming men's volleyball matches. In an interview with The Associated Press, Molaverdi said women could also now watch live basketball, handball and tennis. However, women would not be allowed to attend soccer, swimming and wrestling. . . And in a clear sign of back-pedaling, the state-run ISNA news service on Friday quoted an official from Iran's volleyball federation as saying "the entry of women at volleyball matches is forbidden." The issue garnered worldwide attention after British-Iranian woman Ghoncheh Ghavami was arrested last year while protesting with other women outside Tehran's Azadi Stadium during a volleyball match between Iran and Italy. . . Nonetheless, the incident resulted in the International Volleyball Federation to call for Iran to allow women to attend all games or lose the right to host international tournaments. . . And over the course of the last six months, the government of Hassan Rouhani has indicated it wants to loosen the restrictions on women attending sports events — which date back to the 1979 Islamic revolution. . . "

. . . or just spell it out in the league rules. . . "All Welcome:

Battles . . .

. . . of the bands

(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Bands)
". . . Third World Games have produced a Battle of the Bands card game, which takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the music business. The object is to recruit members into your band, equip them with instruments, win "gigs" and "hit singles" and earn enough "Superstar Points" to win. The game is also available for play on GameTable Online. There is also a Battle of the Bands video game and TV movie. In the music video game Guitar Hero World Tour and all games that followed, a "battle of the bands" mode is featured as an online gameplay mode. The "battle of the bands" concept has had a heavy influence on reality television. Shows such as the Idol series and The X Factor borrow the basic concept of a "battle of the bands" except with individual singers instead of whole bands, combining the concept with a serial elimination format. There was a brief American series in the vein, The Next Great American Band, that did use whole bands. In the 2011 Australian film Swerve, a battle of the marching bands serves as background to most of the scenes set in the small country town. In the 2014 animated film My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Rainbow Rocks, the film's storyline centered around a high school Battle of the Bands competition. . ."

Normal or not? . . .

. . . who's to say?

My brother-in-law came to the house last Sunday to watch a football game. He lives on the outskirts of the metropolitan area and is does not, as a result, have the games of our local NFL franchise available on his cable television broadcast schedule. Now this may sound like a very ordinary situation to you. Brother-in-law visits brother-in-law, the guys watch the game together with a few beers, maybe a pizza and pretzels, right?

Well most of it's right. The only wrong part of the picture is the 'guys' part, at least literally. You see, the two football fans that enjoyed the game together were my brother-in-law and my wife. My wife and my two younger sons are the only football fans in the family. Our eldest and myself would rather. . . be doing just about anything else. So as my wife and her brother were screaming at the television, I walked through the room. He said, "Ray, I guess you're not really interested in this game are you?" to which I responded, "You could tell, huh?" (not rudely, mind you.) To my brilliant remark he responded, "I guess you're the only normal one here."

Literally speaking. . .

. . . The execution squads would have to work overtime to keep up with the number of texts from the Bible that call for the death penalty. Violating the Sabbath (Exod. 35:2), cursing (Lev. 24:13-14) and blaspheming (Lev. 24:16) are among them. Such judgments would fall most heavily on athletic locker rooms used in preparation for Saturday or Sunday football games! But of course no one should be playing football anyway, for Leviticus also prohibits touching anything made of pigskin (Lev. 11:7-8)! Perhaps this great American fall sport should be played with rubber gloves! Even stubborn and rebellious children are at risk of capital punishment, according to the Bible. If children do not obey their parents, if they overseat or drink too much, they are to be stoned at the gates of the city (Deut. 21:18-21). That is a bit stricter than even right-wing biblical moralists and ideologues care to go. Yet if one wishes to search the scriptures sufficiently, this rather bizarre list of texts can be expanded almost endlessly. . . "

Monkey see . . .

. . . and monkey do
The little monkey looks an awful lot like you

Everybody's seen
The little monkeys in the zoo
And we've all been
In situations where we
Do what we know isn't right
So we follow
And try to do it their way
Can't risk our reputation
And in our heads
We hear our Mothers say

Monkey see and monkey do
The little monkey looks an awful lot like you

Every monkey knows
that what the other monkeys think
Matters the most
If we're not thirsty
We'll still drink
If they would tell us to
Run in circles
And jump through hoops of fire
We couldn't jump much higher
And there's a voice that's ringing
In our ears

Monkey see and monkey do
The little monkey looks an awful lot like you

Monkey is a social animal
Not a predator or cannibal
Wondrous thing is sociability
Life is so much more
Than just one great big cocktail party

Monkeys know the game
Just one good double-dare
Can redirect the blame
For anything that they may do
I can't just turn away
Something pulls me
In closer to the fire
I can't explain about it
They'd think there's
Something wrong if I would say

Monkey see and monkey do
The little monkey looks an awful lot like you
