Meteors . . .

creative, eclectic, gonzo, music, original, piano, ray Jozwiak

I chose the song Meteors, which appears on my 'For The Ride' album, for a video when Russ was visiting home from Los Angeles, somewhere about 2008(???).  The piano had just been tuned and sounded great completely open. Russell's sense of movement and perspective, and with superb editing chops, all make for a wonderful visual presentation. The state of the technology at the time however (for the price), rendered the camera a bit less than optimal for the audio. I'm still quite proud of the video though, the song and of course, Russell. Process. . .

Much of OHO's music during my tenure with the outfit during the past ten-plus years, has been created through a careful, slow, meticulous, and thoughtful process.  The tune 'Third-Hand Intelligence', which you can access below, is one such example. The original song was a 12/8 ballad, in the style of many pop hits from the 1950s and 60s. Jay took that raw material and completely revised the beat to more of a rock one and sped the tempo up a bit. He also added the middle-section, in an un-conventional time-signature to replace the original piano solo. Jay's impeccable vocals, harmonies (and much, much more music-stuff) added by Bill Pratt with the usual top-notch percussing by David transformed the piece into the booty-shaking version that appears on 2018's GAZEBO by the band. Quite an accomplishment, if I do say so myself.

Archive . . .

 . . . in lo-fi

Historical document
This well may be.
It documents music
Which was made by me
Quite awhile ago
With fewer grey hairs
As you can well see.
The post says oh-eight
But in reality,
It was probably oh-four
When this came to be
In all of its glorious
Low fidelity.

But not too long ago,
Things were so different,
But maybe not quite so. . .

Unique . . .

What do I know about happiness?
Do I possess some kind of key
To things that no one else can see?

Just as far back as my memory goes,
Sometimes it seemed I was alone
Only my point of view and me.

As I reflect,
Some disconnect
Could be afflicting me.
Am I just one
Under the sun,
Or am I quite unique?

Others speak out very easily,
No fear about who may get hurt
By words so hastily dispensed.

For some reason I step back away.
I hesitate to be so bold as to
Presume some insight gained.

Help . . .

Sean's reply is not the issue. This is not directed at him or his response to my query, nor is my complaint directly related to his particular issue. But I am dismayed nevertheless. . . CD Baby used to provide an email address to which problems could be addressed by a real person within a reasonable time period. CD Baby has now moved to the "Apple" model of customer service, meaning, there IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Both Apple and CD Baby are simply too smart to bother providing a real contact and both think that all their pre-packaged help tools can solve ANY and ALL problems. Maybe that's true, but I doubt it. My complaint is that I generally cannot find my issue within all the articles to which they refer me and in many cases the 'chat' features don't understand what I tell them. There should be a live person that can be contacted by email. I don't need instantaneous gratification, I can wait a few days. But I do not have the time, patience nor technical expertise to decipher the answer to my problem from a pile of articles presented to me under the guise of HELP.
