Walk . . .

Who's With Me?
I wish that I could TEACH
the art of empathy,
requiring that all
earn their master's degree.

So few of us will pry
our eyes off of our screens
to look at what goes on
in life behind the scenes.

I see the little girl
so EAGER for a home,
a mommy and daddy
who'll love her as their own.

I see the teenage boy
attempting to look FIERCE;
a moment of your time -
through his facade you'd pierce.

I see the single mom
whose dreams went up in SMOKE
the day "Prince Charming" left
her beaten, pregnant, broke.

I see the Veteran
with STERLING in his hair,
he sees our HOLLOW looks
and how little we care.

It's time we look around
with eyes that truly see
and show our fellow man
a little empathy.

Practice . . .

. . . may make perfect . . .

. . . if perfect is what you want. But even if that IS what you want, will you ever achieve it? Is ANYTHING really ever perfect anyway. I practice to develop ideas and to physically workout the fingers. Perfection is much too good in the way that Broadway musicals contain too much singing and dancing. Also, perfection implies objectivity. My music, as I believe of all music, is strictly subjective. So here I go. 'Practicing' again. This time reviewing some (what I think are) interesting changes that comprise my tune 'Wisdom'.

More Fact . . .

". . . Article I of the US Constitution vests the power to set tariffs in Congress. The president has the power to impose tariffs at his discretion only because Congress has passed laws granting him that power. If Republicans in Congress think Trump has a bunch of dumb, destructive ideas about trade, they should pass new laws that strip him of that power. . . Trump is expected to justify his proposed metal tariffs by invoking a 1962 law that authorizes the president to impose tariffs unilaterally if doing so is necessary for "national security." Congress could pass new legislation that would require the president to seek a vote of Congress to certify his (bizarre) claim that our dependence on Canadian steel is a national security threat — and that would block his tariffs from going into effect absent such a vote. . ."
