Wasn't sure I wanted to release a solo piano collection next year or not. I think I may. The piano's tuned. Some good takes are in the can. Still working on some things though, like . . .

Perception . . .
As I approach the finale of the old television series Frasier on Netflicks (which it seems I've been watching sporadically for at least two years and running), the actress Laura Linney is now a major character (Frasier's new love interest). Laura Linney has always reminded me of my tenth-grade biology teacher in high school. That, of course, got my mind pondering my youth (adolescence to be precise) and the whereabouts of some of the friends and acquaintances from those days which led to thinking about perception, life, philosophy and much more.
One of my more cogent observations from this, my mature vantage point, is that when I was in high school there was very little boredom during my daytime, committed, serious hours (those spent at school). Conversely, now that I am older and know very well the nature of my true passion(s), my daytime, committed, serious hours (those spent at my economic livelihood) can frequently become boring. The one constant however is, I do (and have for a long, long time) fully, constructively and joyfully occupy those hours that are my own. And the one pastime with which I fill this time is the truest and most wonderful passion one can imagine . . . making music!

Paleolithic Goddess. . .
. . . Figurine . . . take nine, ten. . .
. . . or twelve or thirty-two. . .
(the piano track, that is . . . )
Round every corner and fade into blue
The Angelus rings, she comes into view
Nine is her number
In nine she is due
She will never fail you
Singing creation, look into her eyes
Out of her mouth she is speaking the sky
Circling heaven, higher than high
She in time is movement
Why should I move from her world vibration?
Molding this clay into
Paleolithic Goddess Figurines
Streaming to rivers, she floats on the sea
Gathers her children who sit on her knee
Showing and telling them where they are free
She is softly speaking
Holding the line when she seems unpleasant
Molding this clay into
Paleolithic Goddess Figurines
There is no real dilemma
She has her own agenda
Though there's a vulture hovering above our heads
Go on and trust the pattern
Her sun and moon are lanterns
Painting the firmament with stars
She is the vision of attention engaged
Breaking the spell of automaton rage
A circuit of heaven, a luminous wave
All is seen before her
Why should I move from her world vibration?
Molding this clay into
Paleolithic Goddess Figurines
Round every corner and fade into blue
The Angelus rings, she comes into view
Nine is her number
In nine she is due
She will never fail you

The Box . . .
Ban the box, ban the bomb, hell no we won't go, fly the friendly skies, it's the real thing, I can't believe I ate the whole thing, love my good'n plenty, make love not war, hey, hey, LBJ, how many kids did you kill today?, give peace a chance, power to the people . . .
. . . and from http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/jokes/blantiwarslogans.htm
These colors don't run the world.
One nation under surveillance.
How did our oil get under their sand?
Go Solar, not Ballistic.
Who Would Jesus Bomb?
Start Drafting SUV Drivers Now.
Don't blame me, I voted with the majority.
Buck Fush!
It's NUCLEAR, not NUCULAR, you idiot!
Resistance is Fertile.
(Pictures of sheep carrying flags) Stop Mad Sheep Disease Now.
(UFW sign) Pick Fruit, not Fights.
(On a five year old) More Candy Less War.
Say can you see my democracy?
(With pictures of Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld) Asses of Evil.
It's the oil, stupid.
War is expensive, Peace is priceless.
Read between the Pipelines
No More BuSh.
Smart weapons, Dumb president.
The only thing we have to fear is Bush himself.
How many Lives per Gallon?
Patriots are idiots! Matriarchy Now!
Peace Takes Brains
Anything war can do, peace can do better.
Negotiation Not Annihilation.
Another patriot for peace.
Drop Bush, Not Bombs
Oh Say can You Cease?
Star Spangled Bummer
Don't Arm a Son of a Bush
Don't do it George, Dad will still love you.
Power to the Peaceful
The last time we listened to a Bush, we wandered in the desert for 40 years.

3rd Hand . . .
Working on developing and perfecting performance of the OHO-ized mid-section (conceived by Jay)
for 3rd-Hand Intelligence. (Hear a sample of the instrumental version of 3rd-Hand Intelligence on Black & White Then Back at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/rayjozwiak3)
Heard somebody say. . .
. . . They overheard you
Just the other day
A simple word
About the way we get along
If only I were sure
Of the semantics
Having doubts 'cause I'm
One hopeless romantic
Could it be
You're slipping away from me
What will I do
If what I'm thinking is true
And you want to be
Really free of me
I won't last very long
Very far from your heart
And this third-hand intelligence
Might be the way that it starts.
Heard somebody say
They thought they saw you
Walking in their way
You were not alone
They said he didn't look like
Thinking to myself
Must be mistaken
Try not to believe
but still badly shaken
Why would you
Deceive me in things you do
So many years
Sharing our laughter and tears
Lasted very long
Maybe I was wrong
Not to ask you
Why you feel
We've drifted apart
And this third-hand intelligence
Might be the way that it starts
Are my sources reliable
Wait and see
Wait and see
Is my psyche too pliable
It could be
It could be
If somebody said
The sky was falling
Soon we'll all be dead
Have to quit our stalling
Try to be prepared
Would you believe it's true
Or would you question
All the things you do
And change your direction
From spinning round
When it hits the ground
That's just not true
Any believers are few
When you've seen it all
It could never fall
Any more than
I think you could
Tear us apart
And this third-hand intelligence
Might be the way that it starts

I forgot . . .
Dear Tony,
Just to let you know, last Friday was not exactly a great tip night. Not only were there not ANY forthcoming, but the tip bucket was off to the side of the stage and I couldn't remember to move it front and center. The crowd was visibly and audibly appreciative of my efforts though. The vineyard is a very nice venue for both the crowds and the ambience. But finally, at the end of the evening, someone anxiously wanted to find the tip jar and asked me where it was. I knew, even though as I said I still had not put it in its proper place, so I told him. He place his gratuity in the proper receptacle and expressed his enjoyment at the performance. I, superior intellect that I am, thought to myself, 'don't forget to retrieve that before you leave.'
So to the point, in case you're wondering about that by now, I collected my fee from the staff, packed all my gear car and drove away. About two miles up the road, I realized that I did, indeed, forget to retrieve the tip before I left. I thought to myself, no point in turning around at 9:30PM when I have a 40 minute ride ahead of me and the amount, while greatly appreciated, was probably minimal. I am writing to you to say, please help yourself to the tip, if it is still in the bucket. But, I did want to mention, if it's perchance a hundred dollars or some larger amount, I hope you will consider splitting it with me.
