Exactly . . .

. . . what we need?????

Cowboy justice
Is just exactly what we need
Twice as effective
As mercy now for which they plead
If I can't get you
To see things the way I do
Something happens
I start the process see it through
It's what I've been taught to do
And I'll teach you

No one tells me
Just what I can or cannot do
My advisers
Some say are keepers of this zoo
I don't mind if
You think that what they say is real
I'm in charge here
At least that's how they make me feel
That's a part of the deal
And it came true

Gotta see it my way
I'm giving the people what I want
It's a price I must pay
We cowboys know how to be gallant

There's no question
Of right or wrong here to debate
Disagree though
You'll be subjected to the hate
That's inflicted
On members of the team like you
Cause we cowboys
Will never worry if we're few
Our justice is true
Make no mistake

Another Peach. . .

. . . representing the people. . .

 (from NBCNews.com)
". . . Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa drew rebukes from Democrats and Republicans alike Tuesday after claiming that most young undocumented immigrants are involved in the drug trade.

In an interview with Newsmax, King said that -- out of the population of young undocumented immigrants -- "for every one who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert."

That remark from the noted immigration reform foe prompted a sharp response from Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, who is working on legislation to offer a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children.

"I strongly disagree with his characterization of the children of immigrants and find the comments inexcusable," Cantor said.

House Speaker John Boehner called the characterization "hateful."

"What he said is wrong," Boehner said. "There can be honest disagreements about policy without using hateful language. Everyone needs to remember that."

And South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy argued that "the number of people that have Steve King's precise ideology with respect to immigration is not a sufficient number to derail anything. . ."

Highs. . .

. . . and Lows. . .
Just look at the morning paper
And tell me what you see
Is something very wrong
Or maybe my eyes deceive me
Somewhere in the local section
A buried paragraph
Someone who had the time to care
And the character to act

The higher the highs
The lower the lows
The older I get
That's the way that it goes
The more that I think that I want
The less that I need
Because I realize how precious
And how short
This time with you may be

When you're young and your biggest worry's
What game you want to play
Such innocence is just surpassed
By the naivete
Take good with the worst
And better
You know they're not the same
Youth somehow brings them all together
Different they are
But subtle the shades

The higher the highs
The lower the lows
The older I get
That's the way that it goes
The more that I think that I want
The less that I need
Because I realize how precious
And how short
This time with you may be

Youth really
Is only wasted
If never
You've tasted
All the bitter
As well as sweet

I hope you don't misunderstand me
Or what I want to say
It's nothing revolutionary
Ignorance won't make this go away
Nobody likes a busybody
Nobody knows it all
There's one thing I can tell you certain
Take none for granted
Short or the tall

The higher the highs
The lower the lows
The older I get
That's the way that it goes
The more that I think that I want
The less that I need
Because I realize how precious
And how short
This time with you may be

Closed doors. . .

. . . no scruples. . .
(from http://truth-out.org/news/item/11792-the-israel-lobby-and-how-it-operates)
". . . Step One:  A lobbyist, in this case someone from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), approaches Congresspersons or Senators.  At some point in time that means every single one of them has been approached:  all 435 voting members of Congress and every one of the 100 voting members of the Senate.  Party affiliation is not an issue here.

Step Two:  The lobbyist offers to organize financial campaign assistance, positive media coverage, briefings on situations in the Middle East, trips to Israel, etc.

Step Three: All that is asked in return is that the recipient consistently vote in a pro-Israel way.  In other words, AIPAC wants the politician to surrender a part of his or her mind to them — that part that might exercise critical and considered judgment on issues pertaining to Israel.

Step Four: There are several unspoken, but publicly acknowledged, consequences of turning down this offer, or alternatively,  managing to get elected on your own and then voting the wrong way.

1. If you say no, the same offer will be made to your opponent both at the primary and general election levels.

2. If you are elected and vote against Israel,  AIPAC  will do all it can, sooner or later, to see you defeated. It has a good record of turning such people out of office.

Step Five:  If you sign up for this Faustian bargain and are elected, the lobby becomes your permanent partner.  It is a constant presence.  Its agents are always hovering about,   rating your performance, letting you know they are there.  Prove yourself reliable and they will underwrite you for life. . .

President Obama made this bargain as solidly as have most other politicians in Washington. . ."

First. . .

. . . of all. . .
It was the wrong and cowardly thing to do.  It was extreme.  When all is said and done, it will not contribute to the accomplishment any possible goal held by the perpetrators of the murders. But the situation is much more complicated than that (much, much more complicated) and requires more than a simple ‘John Wayne’ response from a reputedly ‘responsible’ and ‘respectable’ public figure for such a response accomplishes no more toward a resolution than the initial, violent action.

Let’s start at the beginning.  A film.  A piece of ‘entertainment’ or ‘diversion’, if you will.  Whether or not in the guise of educational or informational material, merely a film.  Offensive to someone?  Hell yes!.  An excuse that someone with an agenda may use to further their cause, however justified or unjustified it may be. (More on that later.)

So a film was made and exhibited via the Internet.  The origin of the film is extremely hazy and involves individuals from many and disparate origins including a former Marine and longtime religious-right activist (from a group called Courageous Christians United), a Coptic Christian, 15 key players from the Middle East) Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran), an alleged Israeli-born, 56-year-old, Jewish writer and director and who knows how much of this information is accurate.  In any case, all or many involved are now quite frightened of the backlash their venture has unleashed.

First and foremost, in reasonable, rational and educated 2012, a film is a film. A document conceived, written, performed, directed, filmed, manufactured and distributed by human beings.  Mere human beings.  Nothing more, nothing less. Irrespective you spiritual, religious or cultural beliefs, in reasonable, rational and educated 2012, a film is still a film. Nothing more. Any ‘holy’ book that instructs one to kill another over a matter such as this is surely misguided at best. In fact, most ‘holy’ books, to the best of my knowledge, instruct their readers to be merciful; to forgive.  In short, be virtuous; the better man and set the example as opposed to reactionary, vengeful, vindictive and violent.

Dead. . .

Wrong?. . . No argument there, Mittster.  If the implication is that you could have done it, even after the mess your teammates made. . . you're dead wrong. . .

 (from MSNBC.com)
". . . Mitt Romney emerged from debate rehearsals in Vermont today to pick up some pizzas, and to deliver his own analysis of the first night of the Democratic National Convention, which he said could not make the claim Americans were better off after President Obama's first term.

"You've heard no one stand up and say that people are better off than they were four years ago," Romney told reporters traveling with him as he picked up several extra large pies at a pizza joint here. "They really can't say that. They can't say it in all honesty. Particularly with the news that has come out this week.". . . "

Maybe if we all lived in the land of make-believe. . .

Personal . . .

. . . babbling. . .

I know I’m basically not much different from anybody else;  not terribly special;  not too good but not too bad either.  But even as I look around and feel as though I look like and act like everybody around me, I still feel like I'm different.  Something’s wrong.  Something is unusual and I just can’t seem to put a finger on it.

I've felt this way for most of my life.  During adolescence I thought I didn't belong;  that I was something of an outcast.  I had friends.  But I didn't belong to, or at least I felt like I didn't belong to the 'group' at least the 'group' to which I wanted to belong.

I learned at the end of high school that being an outsider wasn't necessarily a bad thing.  I slowly began to realize that I didn't need to belong to anything.  I certainly did not need to belong to anything to which I didn't want to belong or to anything where the members did not want me to belong.

And now it's not so much a matter of belonging to anything, it's more a matter of my perceptions, observations, analyses and choices.  Now I like being different.
