Roses . . .

. . . and garlic. . .


Never before had a vision beheld
Such rare exquisiteness
To my sheltered existence
The color of liquid sustaining all life

While a far-removed prospect
Opposed in all ways
Fills the cracks and the fissures
Of the concrete and flesh

And both remain etched
In my own very presence
Two different in aspect
Through vision and scent

But lovely
As equals
