Mighty . . .

. . . Alrighty

When doubt overtakes
Both your sleeping and waking,
Cause you're wond'ring more and more
About your giving and taking.

The the giving is coming
Straight from your heart,
And the volumes' increased
Exponentially since the start.

Something's absent though;
It seems more than slightly.
Yet nothing can stop you
When you're Mighty Alrighty.

Change . . .

(from John Adams, by David McCullough)
". . . All that part of Creation that lies within our observation is liable to change. . . Even mighty states and kingdoms are not exempted. If we look into history, we shall find some nations rising from contemptible beginnings and spreading their influence, until the whole globe is subjected to their ways. When they have reached the summit of grandeur, some minute and unsuspected cause commonly affects their ruin, and the empire of the world is transferred to some other place. Immortal Rome was at first but an insignificant village, inhabited only by a few abandoned ruffians, but by degrees it rose to a stupendous height, and excelled in arts and arms all the nations that preceded it. But the demolition of Carthage (what one should think should have established it in supreme dominion) by removing all danger, suffered it to sink into debauchery, and made it at length an easy prey to Barbarians. . . England immediately upon this began to increase (the particular and minute cause of which I am not historian enough to trace) in power and magnificence, and is now the greatest nation upon the globe. . ."

Mighty . . .

. . . alrighty . . .

I am never at a loss for amazement at technology, although granted, the capability of the video camera utilized in the making of the video below is far from new, I find the ease, simplicity and user-friendliness in relation to the high quality, both audio and video, which it produces to be simply mind-boggling. When I consider the sound quality of my childhood 'record-player' or transistor radio, or the early video cameras and video cassette players, not to mention the heavy, metal telephone we had from which we communicated with extended family via a 'party line'. . . the size, weight and sheer capability of current a/v products is nothing less than . . . mighty.

The Vessel . . .

. . . has gone down matey . . .

(from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2641573/The-curse-Black-Pearl-Pirates-Caribbean-pirate-ship-The-Brig-Unicorn-sinks-freak-accident.html)
". . . The Brig Unicorn, who sunk in a freak accident off the coast of St Vincent and the Grenadines . . . (in May of 2014) . . . The magical ship was sailing on her way to be repaired from St Lucia when she encountered difficulties and sank, no one was hurt.  On board at the time there was nine crew members and one captain, who were believed to have been rescued by the St Vincent Coast Guard shortly after the incident. The Brig Unicorn played The Henrietta in The Curse Of The Black Pearl, and The Terrasaw in Dead Man's Chest and At World's End.  The mighty ship was also used as a slave ship in in the 1977 Golden Globe winning American TV series Roots, but was most recently been used as a bar and restaurant in the Rodney Bay Marina in St Lucia. The impressive 148ft ship was built in Finland in 1948 to carry cargo in the 1970's and mainly sailed around the Caribbean, and was often used as a tourist attraction for visits and cruises. The fifth installment of the film series, Dead Men Tell No Tales, is set for release in 2016, with Johnny Depp being confirmed to remain as Captain Jack Sparrow.  Dead Men Tell No Tales will be filmed in both Puerto Rico and New Orleans 'at the end of the year.' . . ."

Oddly. . .

. . .  Christopher means "bearer of Christ. . .

(from God Is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens)
". . .Religion comes from the period of human prehistory where nobody—not even the mighty Democritus who concluded that all matter was made from atoms—had the smallest idea what was going on. It comes from the bawling and fearful infancy of our species, and is a babyish attempt to meet our inescapable demand for knowledge (as well as for comfort, reassurance, and other infantile needs). Today the least educated of my children knows much more about the natural order than any of the founders of religion. . ."
