". . . (Lee) Morgan was killed in the early hours of February 19, 1972, at Slug's Saloon, a jazz club in New York City's East Village where his band was performing. Following an altercation between sets, Morgan's common-law wife Helen More (a.k.a. Morgan), shot him. The injuries were not immediately fatal, but the ambulance service was reluctant to go into the neighborhood where the club was located. They took so long to get there that Morgan bled to death. He was 33 years old. According to an eyewitness, Miss More (13 years his senior) walked out of the club just before the last set. She returned and the band was already on stage. Lee was trying to get up there, but was talking with some people. He just started to get up the stage, when she entered and called his name. He turned around and she shot him. She then turned the gun on the club's doorman Ernie Holman, who grabbed her wrist and took the gun away from her. She started to scream, "Baby, what have I done?" and ran to him. She was later committed to a mental institution for some time. Soon after, Helen Morgan returned to her native North Carolina. Reportedly she never spoke publicly of the incident, until she granted an interview a month before her death. She died in Wilmington, NC, from a heart condition, in March 1996. . . "

Straighten this out . . .

. . . for justice's sake. . . 

**  a young boy was shot and killed

**  a self-appointed (by many reports)  'neighborhood watch' guard known to frequently call 911 about paranoid threat concerns admitted to the shooting

**  no charges were filed against the shooter, no arrest was made

**  the story remained local for about a month 

**  the place where this occurred has a law called 'the stand your ground' law which allows people to kill each other if the reason is 'self defense'

**  telephone calls were revealed between the young boy and a friend (some said girl friend) that sound like he was being stalked and was in fear

**  the killer was said to have uttered racial epithets during a 911 call he made during this incident

**  more than a month after the fact, 'witnesses' corroborated with the shooters now revealed story that he was attacked by the boy

**  The New Black Panthers place a $10,000 bounty on the shooter

**  the shooter's whereabouts are unknown at latest report

Doesn't everyone deserve justice? 

The identities of victim and perpetrator appear obvious.

At first hearing, there is no apparent justice.

Everyone deserves a fair trial.

If one is not guilty, why would one hide?

A human being has died.

A fair trial must be held.

'Stand Your Ground' is a STUPID law!!

Who's to blame?

Jimmy only went outside to take a walk. And when he saw his buddies, stopped to play some ball. Nobody heard the shot ring out 'til they saw him fall. Jimmy was gone. And everybody shakes their heads when the story's told. Jimmy was ten years old. Tell me how can we stop the slaughter? How can we stop the pain? How can we call this order? Oh it's a shame. What a shame. How can we stop the slaugher? How can we stop the pain? It could be your son or daughter. Then who's to blame?

A screaming siren split the calm of a summer night. The crowd was pressing in with eyes that were filled with fright. What can a population do to make this thing right? Haven't we tried? NR association claims that it's still our right. Oh what a noble fight! Tell me how can we stop the slaughter? How can we stop the pain? How can we call this order? Oh it's a shame. What a shame. How can we stop the slaugher? How can we stop the pain? It could be your son or daughter. Then who's to blame?

Hear the roar of the gunning motor. Hear the squeal of the spinning tires. See them running through city streets. Ready, aim and fire. Have you ever felt like the victim? When the culprit has all the rights? See them running through city streets. Ready, aim and fire.

So here we sit in comfort and indifference. If the situation gets no better put up a fence. The problem isn't getting smaller, it's grown immense. What can I do? I could save my pennies, buy a magnum; protect my self. Safety for all my wealth. Tell me how can we stop the slaughter? How can we stop the pain? How can we call this order? Oh it's a shame. What a shame. How can we stop the slaugher? How can we stop the pain? It could be your son or daughter. Then who's to blame?
