Church . . .

The church of music
Holds no ham and oyster suppers
We're all just deacons
With our boots upon the ground
Marching into mystery
In command but
Still can't quite see

The church of music
Won't require your weekly presence
You'll find it stays with you
No matter where you are
No dogmatic postulates
No demands on
Your fidelity

It can end the darkest night
Carry you through the hours
Know not if it’s wrong or right
Make no mistake
It’s divine
This church of mine

There are no fiery demons
In what I believe
It’s not for me to say
Who’s what and where they go
All things flowing naturally
No controlling
Power over you or me

Wasted . . .

. . . time . . .

I've wasted a lot of time in my life, more so in my youth than recently. Any honest person must admit the same, and I guess that's to be expected. I would venture to say that we've all in the past, and will in the future, waste time here and there. But I have never wasted four entire months, and even if I did, it would have been MY time and NOT the time of an entire country!!!

Dear . . .

. . . Congressman. . .

Writing to ask you to take the leadership in having Congress begin the process of writing some ethics laws which WILL apply to the office of President of the United States and his staff. “You must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place, oblige it to control itself.”
wrote James Madison in The Federalist Papers. True, all of our Presidents, until now, possessed the principles necessary to understand the immense responsibility they undertook with the office. But alas, this is 2017 and that is no longer a fact.

Please help the good people of this country, and future generations, to ensure that holders of the highest office in the land are held to the standard which any moral being would naturally subscribe.
This is important because we now know, beings other than moral ones can actually be elected to this office.

And within a month they are gone. . . Different populations, or broods, of “periodical” cicadas emerge in distinct geographical regions during specific years, after spending a 13- or 17-year span growing underground. . . Scientists were expecting to see Brood VI bugs in South Carolina and Georgia, which happened, but they got a surprise when Brood X cicadas also started appearing in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Ohio and Indiana last week—four years earlier than anticipated. . . Experts suspect a warming climate, with more warm weeks a year during which the underground nymphs can grow, could be triggering some cicadas to emerge ahead of their brood. . . "

Burning . . .

Do you mean you were just lying there?

Out of reach of anyone who cares

They have bound you with their loving arms

In the distance I still hear you sound the alarm

Can you see yourself more clearly now?

As if you stepped out of a cloud

Beginning when it seems to end

Above below merging

Your mind doesn't feel

Your fingers don't think

Your eyes do not touch

While the heartbeat goes skipping away

It's now and then you're living

While you wait start the giving

Prove it it's always there

Burning grey without its flare

Obligated but one hand is tied

Constant chattering within your mind

How to leave it no one cares

To hear the silly language spoken there

There's a love that empties its own veins

As they spend they fill up again

The flow traffics through eternity

Carries on in all purity

Now you feel and you think

You see and you touch

With a matrix that springs from your heart

To your hands through your head

Burning grey
