Melancholy . . .

It’s a melancholy world
When you can’t tell
The stones from the pearls.
You can’t image what
My motives are
Or what I’m feeling.
But the lights are bright
On Broadway
As the birds begin to sing.
As America pours her first
Cup of coffee,
It’s a melancholy world.

It’s a melancholy world
Choosing between the
Big brass ring or the girl.
I just can’t seem to
Hold on to the dreams
I’ve worked so hard for.
But the crowd is there
At midnight
And the party’s just begun.
There’s a gold invitation
That bears my name
But it’s gotten lost in the mail.
It’s a melancholy world.

The mirror holds the
Same old dour reflection
That it used to.
But the sun will rise
In the morning,
And the stars will light the night.
If they just took the time;
Listened to my sad song.
It’s a melancholy world.

Treachery . . .

What’s in a name
Words are just words
Such compromise
Faithless was she
Deceitfulness; treachery
Breeching a trust; perfidious
No way to know
Well in advance
Now it’s all clear
Reaped what she sowed
She had to go

Dishonor waits
On perfidy
Rising above
Your misery
False man forgets worldliness
Minus or plus; perfidious
Cowards and fools
Hiding beneath lies
Accusat’ry
In you just like me
Will not die

Duplicity; two-facedness
Untrustworthiness confuses me
Such perfidy

Disloyalty
Baseless intrigue
Can it go on
Indefinitely;
Perfidy?

Heart . . .

Sometimes the performance
Takes precedence over all,
Be there errors, be there clams.
Though, in length, may be deficient,
Compensation's found in the heart
And the soul of the melody.

At least that's what I think.

Roomful . . .

Love,
Triumphs I’ve heard,
Over all.
Is it really true?
One
Many-splendored thing,
Conquering
Obstacles revealed.

Gathered for this occasion,
Politely civil in a social dance.
Mannerly; respectful discourse,
All in a room that’s full of elephants.

Talk,
Civility,
Must be maintained
So we don’t set them free.

How many people
Exist right here in this place,
So much the same?
Pride always goes
Before the fall so they say.
It’s like a parade.

Don’t
Think its your own
Imagination ‘cause its it’s real.
Though,
Circus-like true,
These pachyderms cannot be viewed.

Ahora . . .

OHO's first release since our 2018 Gazebo album. 13 years in the making, this linkage of musical/lyrical extrapolations, prompted by an attendee's experience during morning sittings at a 2005 Guitar Craft course, manifest in this 36+ minute "operetta." Composed initially while musing on a Maryland beach during the aughts on a Martin Backpacker, and with basic tracks performed on an acoustic guitar strung in the New Standard Tuning. "This adventure should be consumed as a whole. Wondrous interlocking melodies buttress the theme of discovery. The plentiful instrumental interludes serve as guides while respectfully nodding to progressive music's golden era. Addictive stand-alone tunes pass through this expedition widening the musical palette while functioning as a novel's chapters. The exquisite placement of chosen instrumentation adds the desired spice to possess the listener's (now- galvanized) attention. Adrenalin jacks are plentiful, induced by spine-tingling crescendos. Ahora! is the culmination of the OHO experience thus far. Amazingly, after 49 years, there seems to be absolutely no decline in the quality of an OHO release. This, my friends, is another of the multiple peaks experienced during their highly creative journey. Discover the now...BULL'S EYE!!" (Warren Barker, Progression Magazine)

Grifter . . .

(from https://www.salon.com/2022/07/14/donald-is-finally-running-scared-liz-cheney-and-jan-6-committee-have-him-cornered/)
". . . Trump is a fascist. Trump is a liar. Trump is dangerous. Ultimately Trump is a traitor to the ideals enshrined in our Constitution. The seventh hearing on this fetid stench leaves just one important question unanswered: Will the Department of Justice indict Trump, Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman, Jeffrey Clark, Sidney Powell and others? . . . It is obvious that Liz Cheney, by mentioning the DOJ at the close of this week's hearing, believes that indictments are forthcoming. There are those who still doubt it and who believe Attorney General Merrick Garland is not up to the task. But the 32 federal lawmakers I've spoken with since Tuesday all believe Trump's indictment will be coming. "It has to, or this means nothing and as a country we are done," one told me. . . So how did Trump respond on Wednesday? . . He sent out emails promoting his Trump "commemorative" golf balls along with one encouraging his supporters to buy authentic "Trump Ultra Maga Shirts," for just $45. . . "
