Flower . . .

Wishing upon a star
Takes me so very far.
Just don’t play around with my heart.
You must take special care
Not to damage or tear
Just the smallest little part.

Sometimes I’m not too clear
What is this thing that I fear.
It’s so difficult to describe.
How can something unknown
Make me feel so alone.
I should be the bigger man
But I clearly won’t.

I’m just a sensitive flower.
I’m such a sensitive soul.
I’m just a sensitive flower.
So I’ve been told.

Maybe the way I react
Lacks some refinement or tact.
I just do the best that I can.
Sometimes we’re out in a crowd
Full of opinion so loud.
I go back inside of my shell.

No matter how very hard
I try to change how I behave.
I just can’t seem to please
All the people even half the time.
Do you think that I can be saved?

In this state of affairs
Don’t get caught unawares.
Just be cognizant of what’s there.
Why do those who can’t see
Think that some vision can’t be
Advantageous to possess
For someone like me.

Tune . . .

https://www.premierguitar.com/gear/reviews/best-clip-on-guitar-tuner

 . . . IN, not up

(from an email yesterday)
We're celebrating our one year anniversary on WTMD and thought a fun way to do it would be to put all of the Homegrown Headliners from this past year in the playlist throughout the week.

You'll [OHO] be included Tuesday February 22nd and we'd appreciate it if you help spread the word to give your peoples a chance to listen.  We've attached a graphic in case you'd like to use it for social media.  Thank you for being part of the show, listeners really dig having our local talent showcased.  We hope it helps people discover great music and put some more arses in seats this summer!

Perfidy . . .

What’s in a name?
Words are just words.
Such compromise,
Faithless was she.
Deceitfulness; treachery,
Breeching a trust; perfidious.
No way to know
Well in advance,
Now it’s all clear,
Reaped what she sowed.
She had to go.

Dishonor waits
On perfidy.
Rising above
Your misery.
False man forgets worldliness.
Minus or plus; perfidious.
Cowards and fools
Hiding beneath lies.
Accusat’ry,
In you just like me,
Will not die.

Duplicity; two-facedness,
Untrustworthiness confuses me.
Such perfidy.

Disloyalty,
Baseless intrigue,
Can it go on
Indefinitely?
Perfidy.

Perfidy

Pretty Mean . . .

. . . band

(A FB post originating with my friend Dave Kelly)
This is one of mine and Michael Kearney's favorite tunes we've done over the past several years. It is called 'This and That', from our 2020 LP of the same name. This song was truly a collaborative effort. With Ray Jozwiak on pianos. Pete Wulforst on lead guitar, Bill Pratt on horns and organs, me on rhythm guitars, Michael Kearney on Bass, and as always the great Kelly Secret on vocals. And last but not least, production assistance from Jay Graboski

Regarding . . .

. . . Mothers

(from https://www.purewow.com/entertainment/mothers-day-quotes)
"I always say if you aren't yelling at your kids, you're not spending enough time with them." – Reese Witherspoon

"I want my children to have all the things I couldn't afford. Then I want to move in with them." – Phyllis Diller

"A mother is the person you can always call to see how long chicken lasts in the fridge."

"Dear Mom, Thank you for keeping all the bad stuff I did from Dad."

"Silence is golden. Unless you have kids. Then silence is just suspicious."

"It’d be cool if my kids could make something I actually want. Like a bottle of wine out of macaroni."

"Sometimes I open my mouth and my mother comes out."

“Becoming a mom to me means you have accepted that for the next 16 years of your life, you will have a sticky purse.” — Nia Vardalos

“If evolution really works, how come Mothers only have two hands?” — Milton Berle

“My mother’s menu consisted of two choices: Take it or leave it.” — Buddy Hackett

“When your mother asks, ‘Do you want a piece of advice?’ it’s a mere formality. It doesn’t matter if you answer yes or no. You’re going to get it anyway.” — Erma Bombeck

More Polarization . . .

(from Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power by Jon Meacham)
". . . You and I have formerly seen warm debates and high political passions. But gentlemen of different politics would then speak to each other.... It is not so now. Men who have been intimate all their lives cross the streets to avoid meeting, and turn their heads another way, lest they should be obliged to touch their hat.  - Thomas Jefferson to Edward Rutledge. . . "

Excellent? . . .

(from https://www.nytimes.com/2022/02/10/opinion/beatles-destined-fame.html)
". . . Let’s say you’re a musician, artist or actor with dreams of making it big. How do you do that? . . . The standard answer is: Be really excellent at your craft and you will become renowned. Sadly, it’s not that simple. Excellence is a requirement, but often it’s not enough. . . If ever there was a group that could rise to the top on the basis of sheer creative genius, it was them(The Beatles). . ."

My first reaction to this otherwise interesting article, is that 'excellence' is actually NOT a requirement. I suppose my real argument is the 'absolute' nature that I attribute to the word 'excellence.' The word is simply too subjective and should only be used carefully and sparingly.
