The Lake Wake Walk is a forty-or-so-mile trek across the North York Moors that follows the path once taken by monks as they processed towards the coast to bury their dead at sea. Complete it in less than twenty-four hours and the Chief Dirger sends you a black lapel badge in the shape of a coffin. . . "
