Senses . . .

Ours is a sensory world.
So many sources abound to entice.
Still this mortal marathon’s run.
The trick’s in
Pacing yourself.
Finishing’s more than the win.

Ears to see and eyes to hear.
Understand direction where to steer.
All the tender subtleties,
Every little nuance there.
Ears to see and eyes to hear.
Super-Sensory powers instilling fear.
Better than invisibility,
Leaping buildings,
Flying high.

Noise from all sides, all decibels,
Arresting every sensation possessed.

One step forward,
Two steps back.
How much can you take?
If doing the same thing over and over
Brings no change,
Will you do it once again?

I possess no bravery in matters
Any more than anyone else.

Comparison . . .

. . . or NOT

Courtesy of either Todd Walker, Ron Goad or Pam Jozwiak

The original, stripped-down, bare-bones, solo piano version of Spencer's Mambo (which can be considered a sequel to yesterday's post or stands quite ably on its own), a tune from my first album 'Chromatose' from 2003

Shaping . . .

This tune, 'Spencer's Mambo' (technically not a mambo, but an homage nonetheless) appears on my very first album 'Chromatose' as a solo, piano instrumental. My family was the inspiration for much of the music in that collection. With the potential unleashed by Logic Pro X, I am able to realize more vivid productions of some of the music. One example of that is this full-realized version of 'Spencer's Mambo' clearly capitalizing on so much of the music that came before me and helped shape my own creations.

Can It Go On? . . .

What’s in a name?
Words are just words.
Such compromise,
Faithless was she.
Deceitfulness; treachery,
Breeching a trust; perfidious.
No way to know
Well in advance,
Now it’s all clear,
Reaped what she sowed.
Had to go.

Dishonor waits
On perfidy.
Rising above
Your misery.
False man forgets worldliness.
Minus or plus; perfidious.
Cowards and fools
Hiding beneath lies.
Accusat’ry,
In you just like me,
Will not die.

Duplicity; two-facedness,
Untrustworthiness confuses me.
Such perfidy.

Disloyalty,
Baseless intrigue,
Can it go on
Indefinitely?
Perfidy.

Understand . . .

Speaking your mind can be both blessing and curse.
Doing, you’ll find, is honest but still it hurts.
But over time you can adjust.
Conscience or no, all doubt will disburse.

I don’t understand there are subtleties.
I don’t understand more than black and white.
I only see right and only see wrong.
There is only weak. There is only strong.
I can’t comprehend things like empathy,
How to put myself in somebody’s place.
I never considered such things.
No ‘R’, ‘O’, or ‘I’ could it bring,
So uncomplicated to think of myself, only myself.

Can’t toe the line, cannot learn anything new.
Back in my past, no one expected me to.
One thing I knew, I’m one of few
That could not lose. That’s compulsory.

What a mistake placing our trust
In one so damaged inside.
So much at stake. See them, see us.
Confusion obscured his lies.

Bitter . . .

https://www.istockphoto.com/photos/sour-food

. . . end

You never want to have to hear a word from me again.
Never want to have to see my face at your door.
If there's so much as the mention of my name,
You can feel an uncontrollable fit of pain.
I'm the one
That you said
You would love
Til the bitter end.

This must really be,
This must really be the end.
Nothing could be fitter.
This must really be,
This must really be the end.
Make no mistake it's bitter.

You never want us to be seen again in public places.
Can't explain it to another friend how it goes.
You say there's torment that you feel inside from many things.
I can tell you that I still don't know what that means.
Long ago,
We were friends,
Far removed
From this bitter end.

There's no candy coating
To make it go down easier.
Not so simple to digest.
No bright colors and no
Exotic flavors sweetening.
What you see is what you get.

You never want to have to hear a word from me again.
Never want to have to see my face at your door.
If there's so much as the mention of my name,
You can feel an uncontrollable fit of pain.
With one fell
Swoop, you sent
Me [direct]
To the bitter end.
