Should We . . .

. . . STOP . . .

. . . the hate?

I spotted a family, consisting of a man, woman and two young boys (8 - 10 years of age) in the neighborhood the other day. The man was wearing a t-shirt bearing the following note:
"Hit the road Amigo".

While it was tempting to tell him that I had considered wearing my "Elect A Clown Expect A Circus" shirt that day, I instead considered that not only do such antics only serve to exacerbate the current political polarization, but that anyone who considered that clothing item appropriate would most likely not consider physical violence an inappropriate reaction to such a remark.

Words are just words
Such compromise
Faithless was she
Deceitfulness; treachery
Breeching a trust; perfidious
No way to know
Well in advance
Now it’s all clear
Reaped what she sowed
She had to go

Dishonor waits
On perfidy
Rising above
Your misery
False man forgets worldliness
Minus or plus; perfidious
Cowards and fools
Hiding beneath lies
Accusat’ry
In you just like me
Will not die

Duplicity; two-facedness
Untrustworthiness confuses me
Such perfidy

Disloyalty
Baseless intrigue
Can it go on
Indefinitely;
Perfidy?

It’s a parade
A satire for oppression
Provocateur
To oversee dissection
Notoriety; a craving
Never ending ’til it’s quenched
But no sooner than accomplished
Viciously starting all over again

Just what we need
More hatred for a weapon
Follow the lead
Against your own discretion
Try offending this offender
At each opportune moment
Though there’s little chance of succeeding
Save who you can but survivors are scant

Sure of your place
Certain of you own infamy
Confident of the position you have
Should you expand
Magnanimity to fellow man
Loss of some acolytes
Is a price you suspect
You’re simply not
Able to pay

Then through it all
In disrepute emerging
You took the fall
Sacramental; a purging
Now the party days are over
You don’t have to check IDs
Hubris took you down with much ease
