. . . my duet with Yo-Yo Ma?
Yo-Yo and Me (the Indabamusic.com contest from awhile back)
Well, in truth, it was a contest on Indaba Music.com where you download Yo-Yo playing this piece and you do, essentially, whatever you want production-wise. Needless to say, my rather tame jazz-treatment with improvisation did NOT win the contest. But it was fun. And it REALLY is Yo-Yo and me through the magic of digital technology.
(Thanks to Indabamusic.com and Mr. Yo-Yo Ma)

Since only hundreds of millions. . .
. . . will probably see this, (I think it was J. Paul Getty who once said, ". . . a million here, a million there, and pretty soon you're talking big money. . . ") I don't think anyone will mind if you listen to the progress we're making on the performance of a song entitled SMILE (All Rights Reserved by Michael Mitchell) by Michael Mitchell on the collaborative, music-networking website Indabamusic.com, which I mentioned in my blog of 2/9/11.
It's like going into the studio but it's a 'virtual' studio and participants can be located anywhere around the world. And you add your contribution on your own time.
(did I say "probably see this"? I meant to say "probably not")

Monday morning. . .
There's a cool social and collaborative website for musicians called INDABA MUSIC which allows you to play on 'sessions', to which you are either invited or accepted to join, in essence, playing with a band on-line. I've been a member for some years. Here's one of the 'fruits' or our Indaba labors.
Well, I've been working on a new session.

Ho Hum. . .
No, I'm not bored. And I hope you're not either.
After surfing here a bit, I found something in which I participated awhile back and of which I am actually quite proud.
I should say, I really am on the internet for the music. Not to hear it. Not to buy it. Yes, I do those things and they are so easily wonderful to do on the web. But I am here (my 'strictly commercial' commercialism shines through now) to exploit my music. Prolly never make any money on it, but this is such a wonderful tool to 'spread' the music around to many good folk with very little effort.
So back to the "find". Speaking of the wonders of the internet, there is a website called indabamusic.com, which for creative musicians is a godsend. In short, you join, you surf the site to find 'projects' (or start your own), ask to join (or ask others to join yours), post files (tracks) and have everyone contribute to, in essence, build a song (or a recording) performed by multiple musicians from virtually around the globe. Cool. . . you ask? Yes, I say!
So a little while back, a person named MINIME C. (very cryptic about identity and personal information) posted this funky, groovy kind of thing and ended up with various and sundry contributors contributing contributions to it. The title of the 'piece' is HO-HUM. I contributed digital piano, organ and trumpet. A solid funky bassist named Mark Brabson did a great bass part and VOILA! You can hear it by following this hyperlink.
Anyway, I loved it then and I love it now. I stumble upon it every now and then since it still hangs there in cyberspace.
Let me know what you think, please? (HO-HUM http://www.indabamusic.com/asset/show/28059)
