. . . and then there's Mondo Cane
Excess, pun intended, abounds
The trick, I reckon, to this dilemma
Is not becoming one of the hounds

We've mentioned oysters and complications
And we're not through yet you may rest assured
A word here, if you will, upon disparity 
Lest we all become inured

There's thems that got and thems that haven't
There's kind and nasty and in between
A saint, I'm not asking, to be's very tough
But 'allowing' in practice is still rarely seen

Remember, I said that? But now we’re going to have to do a little work on Thanksgiving.” . . . He added, “People have different ideas why it shouldn’t be called ‘Thanksgiving,’ but everybody in this room, I know, loves the name ‘Thanksgiving’ and we’re not changing it.”. . . Obviously, this is deeply foolish, even by Trump standards. At least when some on the right got hysterical about “Happy Holidays,” conservatives could point to actual examples of people and businesses using the inclusive phrase. There is no comparable effort to change Thanksgiving’s name. . .Trump just made it up. . ."

Good people called it black
He says it’s white
They said he never would
He said he might
When will it end

Out of the question seemed
Prospect to be
Taking it seriously
Not you or me
Like make-believe

Who could foresee it
Who had the crystal ball
Undo bit by bit
Without one clue at all
Without decorum
Without a principle
Without a common decency to others
Need my druthers

Malice and arrogance
His stock and trade
Simply his character
Born with or made
Nature or raised

First thing and foremost in his mind
Ever so clearly appears he

Time now is way past due
Things have to change
Longer we let it go
The more he’s deranged
Give him his due

Shame . . .

Devin) Nunes has continually pushed the same debunked conspiracy theories about Ukraine, the Democratic National Committee and Crowdstrike . . .  in all of its bizarre contempt for facts, its willingness to ignore and defame witnesses and its zeal to defend the president at all costs — including actively colluding with efforts to dig up dirt on his political opponents. . . we now learn that Nunes may also have travelled to Europe to meet with a former (and highly corrupt) Ukrainian prosecutor to discuss the effort to vilify former Vice President Joe Biden. (Speaking with Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, Nunes dodged questions about the report.). . . Nunes’ behavior has become so openly outlandish its drawing fire from former colleagues. . . former Republican congressman and current (long-shot) presidential candidate Joe Walsh tweeted: “One takeaway for what it’s worth: @DevinNunes is a stupid, partisan hack.”. . . Old-fashioned hackery generally consisted of loyalty and a willingness to take one for the party, because hacks were concerned with self-preservation. But the thing about this form of hackery is that there were limits — a point beyond which even the most devoted hack would not go. (See: Watergate.). . . In a world where politicians still retained the capacity for shame, Nunes might have been chagrined by Fiona Hill’s rebuke. It was as close as we have come to the moment when Army counsel Joseph Welch asked Sen. Joseph McCarthy, “Have you no shame?”. . . But shame requires a shared moral universe, and Nunes did not blush. . ."
