Which comes straight from the heart
With a little bit of input from the head
Containing lyrics or having none
The sentiment's no weaker
Nor less valid
An artist which accomplishes this
Is both wily and quite versatile
His work is comic, topical,
or often very personal

Membership . . .

. . . has its disadvantages . . .

 Who doesn't want to belong
To something
A need that's bigger than us
You feel it deep in your heart
Desire for
Attention
A little trust

Now I'm a member of the club
And I'm not really sure
How far it will get me
And I'm not really sure
How far I will go

I felt it so many times
That yearning
To be a part of it all
I couldn't understand why
I didn't
Fit into
Your kind of style

I'm an out-
sider from so long ago
A solo
Performer
On my own road

Why so much serious doubt
Consumes me
I can't be-
gin to describe
Just when I thought that I found
A greater
Confidence
I want to hide

As a result of trump's 'prayer in schools' initiative, will Muslims, Hindus, Jews, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists (and other non-Christians) be free to pray in U.S. schools?

The church of music
Holds no ham and oyster suppers
We're all just deacons
With our boots upon the ground
Marching into mystery
In command but
Still can't quite see

The church of music
Won't require your weekly presence
You'll find it stays with you
No matter where you are
No dogmatic postulates
No demands on
Your fidelity

It can end the darkest night
Carry you through the hours
Know not if it’s wrong or right

It’s divine
This church of mine

There are no fiery demons
In what I believe
It’s not for me to say
Who’s  what and where they go
All things flowing naturally
No controlling
Power over you or me

Stricly spiritual
No trace of any politics
Lurking in the mix or in the fabric
Only what is good
No room for hate and no deceit
Honesty
Sincerity will move you
And me

This church won’t interfere
With what you think or do
Your body and your mind are
Yours and yours alone
No one tells you what to say
No one criticizes
What you feel inside
