Time's . . .

. . . sure fun when you're having flies. . .

I have reached the point in my life where I totally comprehend time, as it relates to me, and exactly how I choose to use it.

Take for example the Olympics.  I have absolutely nothing against the Olympics.  But let's face it, the pre-Olympics ceremony is just that - Ceremony!  It's a parade.  It's a spectacle.  It's razzle-dazzle.  It's a circus.  It's GRAND! It's just not the kind of entertainment that I prefer.

I just  don't need grand.  Grand spectacles on television offer me very little return on investment. Quite honestly, I don't have time.  I simply choose to use that time to do something more personally appealing, desirable and constructive to me, in my own estimation.

I don't need to see it.  Granted, I am not an athlete nor am I a fan of sports or athletics so I have no affinity for such things.   I work a forty-hour week.  When I have free time, I want to create music, whether my own, solo piano music or with Mystic I or OHO.  I want to spend substantial time with my loved one(s).  I also, sometimes regretfully [and sometimes fitfully], need to sleep.

It's all allocated.  There's no time left for glittery television spectacle which has no real direct impact on me or my life.

Call me a poop.  Call me no fun.  But do call me pragmatic. . . when it comes to my own time.

Not really. . .

. . . dead, just bitter. . .
Some additional modifications.  Percussion, tightening the snare.  Next, maybe piano with a better mic.  The Bitter End never ends . . .  ALL TOGETHER NOW . . .

You never want to have to hear a word
From me again
Never want to have to see my face
At your door
If there's so much as the mention of
My name
You can feel an uncontrollable
Fit of pain

I'm the one
That you said
You would love
Til the bitter end

This must really be
This must really be the end
Nothing could be fitter
This must really be
This must really be the end
Make no mistake it's bitter

You never want us to be seen again
In public places
Can't explain it to another friend
How it goes
You say there's torment that you feel inside
From many things
I can tell you that I still don't know
What that means

Long ago
We were friends
Far removed
From this bitter end

This must really be
This must really be the end
Nothing could be fitter
This must really be
This must really be the end
Make no mistake it's bitter

There's no candy coating
To make it go down easier
Not so simple to digest
No bright colors and no
Exotic flavors sweetening
What you see is what you get

You never want to have to hear a word
From me again
Never want to have to see my face
At your door
If there's so much as the mention of
My name
You can feel an uncontrollable
Fit of pain

With one fell
Swoop you sent
Me direct to the bitter end

This must really be
This must really be the end
Nothing could be fitter
This must really be
This must really be the end
Make no mistake it's bitter

Colorado Gun Sales Surge After the Aurora Massacre
By Caroline Winter on July 24, 2012  Tweet Facebook LinkedIn Google Plus 10

Background checks for people wanting to purchase firearms in Colorado spiked more than 40 percent this past weekend, after a gunman opened fire in a suburban Denver movie theater, killing 12 people and wounding 58 more.

During the three days following the July 20 shooting, gun dealers submitted 2,887 requests for state background checks, compared with 2,012 during the same period a week earlier, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

Booming gun sales following mass shootings are not unusual. Immediately after a Glock-wielding gunman killed six people at a Tucson shopping center in January 2011, for example, one-day sales of handguns in Arizona jumped 60 percent, to 263, according to FBI data obtained by Bloomberg.

Sanctimonious. . .

. . . is a great word.

Don't you think.

It's a very musical word, to be sure.  But when used properly, it describes the subject so colorfully, beautifully and appropriately.

And I feel like I should know well.  I've been subject to sanctimony for many, many years.  And I don't expect it will stop. . . at least until I die.

Yes. . .

. . . we can . . .

(By Martha C. White)
". . . With its “Legalize Love” campaign, Google became the latest in a growing number of companies to publicly take a position in support of gay rights.

Far from being simply feel-good initiatives, these moves are highly calculated, marketing experts say. Companies may be embracing the rainbow, but the motivating color is still green.

The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is a huge market with buying power of some $790 billion annually in the U.S. alone, according to Witeck Communications. And gays have influence among the straight consumers who are their friends and relatives.

For many marketers, that is too much to leave lying on the table, even if they risk some backlash from consumers opposed to expanding gay rights. Companies “have to satisfy shareholders at the end of the day,” said Bob Witeck, founder and president of Witeck Communications.

Target is selling these T-shirts to raise money for a group working to defeat a gay marriage ban in Minnesota.

Google’s campaign, announced last week, comes on the heels of Mother’s and Father's Day promotions by J.C. Penney featuring same-sex parents, a Gap ad featuring a male Broadway performer and his boyfriend, and Target selling t-shirts as a fundraiser for the Family Equality Council, a group lobbying against a same-sex marriage ban in the retailer’s home state of Minnesota.

Last November, four dozen companies ranging from Nike to Microsoft signed a statement essentially supporting gay marriage by objecting to the Defense of Marriage Act. In February, Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein participated in a Human Rights Campaign web video in support of marriage equality. “There’s no doubt that American businesses will be central to the dismantling of DOMA,” Human Rights Campaign president Joe Solmonese told Politico last month. . . ). . .
