Am I? . . .

What do I know about happiness
Do I possess some kind of key
To things that no one else can see

Just as far back as my memory goes
Sometimes it seemed I was alone
Only my point of view and me

As I reflect
Some disconnect
Could be afflicting me
Am I just one
Under the sun
Or am I quite unique

Others speak out very easily
No fear about who may get hurt
By words so hastily dispensed

For some reason I step back away
I hesitate to be so bold as to

Yes, he's a fuckhead but, we're splitting hairs on the creed thing. I wouldn't have read it either. But let's get after him about the THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER!! DECENCY, EMPATHY, COMPASSION, PRINCIPLES!!! [Science, reading, education, facts. . . the creed is really not what we need from our president right now] Let us be careful not to bark up the wrong tree!

The church of music
Holds no ham and oyster suppers
We're all just deacons
With our boots upon the ground
Marching into mystery
In command but
Still can't quite see

The church of music
Won't require your weekly presence
You'll find it stays with you
No matter where you are
No dogmatic postulates
No demands on
Your fidelity

It can end the darkest night
Carry you through the hours
Know not if it’s wrong or right
Make no mistake
It’s divine
This church of mine

There are no fiery demons
In what I believe
It’s not for me to say
Who’s what and where they go
All things flowing naturally
No controlling
Power over you or me

Stricly spiritual
No trace of any politics
Lurking in the mix or in the fabric
Only what is good
No room for hate and no deceit
Honesty
Sincerity will move you

This church won’t interfere
With what you think or do
Your body and your mind are
