Left Out . . .

. . . among many other 'issues' that Lucy had . . .

(from https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Peanuts)
I'm frustrated and inhibited, and no one understands me.

These five fingers: individually they're nothing, but when I curl them together like this into a single unit (making a fist), they form a weapon that is terrible to behold!

Can I help it if I was born with crabby genes?!?

By the time I've grown up, we'll probably have a woman president. You know what that means, don't you? It means I won't get to be the first one. BOY, THAT MAKES ME MAD!!

Watching your graceful movements on the pitcher's mound lulled me to sleep!

When the sun reflects off the bright yellow dandelions, I can't see the ball.

Dear . . .

. . . NPR,
In the interest of TRUE objectivity, I would suggest a correction be made regarding a comment made on your show. The male moderator, interviewing a political correspondent on Friday, September 11, 2015 said something to the effect that, 'Hillary Clinton may have a rival for the Democratic Presidential nomination in Joe Biden' implying that there are NO other Democratic candidates.  Last time I checked, there were a few; Martin O'Malley and Bernie Sanders are two..  Please do not allow your on-air talent to decide any elections for the American people in advance.  This flies in the face of one of the principles NPR is supposed to champion - OBJECTIVITY.

Back. . .

. . . from . . .

(from http://ococean.com/explore-oc/oc-history/)
". . . The sun and surf of Ocean City, Maryland, have been attracting visitors since Algonquian tribes first came to our beaches to fish and sun themselves. Europeans first arrived in 1524 when Giovanni da Verrazano surveyed the east coast of North America. By the 17th century, British colonists had moved north from Virginia and settled in the area. Due to Ocean City's isolation as a barrier island, the town remained a sleepy fishing village until 1875, when the Atlantic Hotel began welcoming visitors. The following year, the railroad bridged Sinepuxent Bay, and a resort was born. In 1878, heroes took up residence. The U.S. Life-Saving Service, an ancestor of today's Coast Guard, established a station here. Their mission: to venture out in stormy seas and rescue shipwreck victims. The second station, built in 1891, is now the Ocean City Life-Saving Station Museum, enshrining Ocean City's history and saluting the brave men who worked here. In 1900, the first boardwalk was constructed. Trimper's Amusements opened shortly after. Unlike today, however, the boardwalk wasn't a year-round fixture. The boards were actually taken up in the winter, and stored until the following spring! . . . "

The Past . . .

(from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bourbon_Street)
". . . The French claimed Louisiana as a colony in the 1690s. Jean Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville was appointed as Director General in charge of developing a colony in the territory. He founded New Orleans in 1718. In 1721, the royal engineer, Adrien de Pauger designed the city's street layout. He named the streets after French royal houses and Catholic saints. Bourbon Street paid homage to France's ruling family, the House of Bourbon. . ."

(from http://www.langloisnola.com/creole-cajun-history/)
". . . The Acadians – Frenchmen who settled in “Acadie,” the wilds of Nova Scotia – were forcibly driven out of Canada in 1755 by the British and shipped off to regions as disparate as Massachusetts, the West Indies, and Uruguay. This exile was called Le Grande Derangement (“the great trouble”). After returning to France, one of the largest groups of exiles landed on the shores of South Louisiana. Over time, more waves of Acadians reunited with fellow refugees, and they became known as “Cajuns.” Acadians were hunters, farmers, and fishermen well-versed in the art of living off the land. They were given land grants upriver from New Orleans and moved into the swamps, bayous, and prairies of Louisiana to start farms and ranches. . . . "

But that's all in the past. . .

Pie . . .

(from http://inventors.about.com/od/foodrelatedinventions/a/pizza.htm)
". . . Considered a peasant's meal in Italy for centuries, we cannot say who invented the very first pizza pie. Food historians agree that pizza-like dishes, including flatbreads topped with oils, spices, and other toppings, were eaten by many peoples in the Mediterranean, including the Greeks and Egyptians. However, modern pizza has been attributed to baker Raffaele Esposito of Naples. In 1889, Esposito -- who owned a restaurant called the Pizzeria di Pietro -- baked what he called "pizza" especially for the visit of Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margherita. According to legend, this pizza was topped with mozzarella, basil and tomatoes to represent the three colors of the Italian flag, and the style was named for Queen Margherita. . ."

Seeking . . .

. . . a contact about licensing . . .
. . . the Baltimore Colts Fight Song. . .

(from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Klasmer)
". . . Benjamin Klasmer was a professional violinist and composer notable for his contributions to the musical culture of 20th century Baltimore, Maryland. Born in Horondenka, Austria in 1891, Klasmer moved to the United States in 1909 after receiving considerable classical training as a violinist from several notable composers. Settling first in New York City, where he played with the German Musical Comedy Theater, Klasmer moved to Richmond, VA, in 1913 to play in the Bijou Theater Orchestra there. During his years in Richmond, he was the first conductor of the Young Men's Hebrew Association Orchestra. In 1916 he moved to Baltimore where he spent the remainder of his career. Once established in Baltimore, Klasmer assisted the conductor, Gustav Strube in founding the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, where he played in the violin section for many years. He also began performing and conducting for several local pit orchestras, most notably as the conductor of the pit orchestra at the Hippodrome Theatre, Baltimore. The orchestras he conducted at various Baltimore theaters, including the New Theater, the Garden Theater, the Rivoli, and the Hippodrome, furnished musical accompaniment to silent movies and to vaudeville acts. It was with the revival of vaudeville at the Hippodrome Theater on August 28, 1931, that Klasmer began his tenure there, which lasted until he died of a heart attack at the theater in 1949. One of Klasmer's proudest legacies, however, was as the conductor of the youth orchestra at Baltimore's Jewish Educational Alliance (J.E.A.), which he founded with Emile Clarke in 1919. After a few years under Klasmer's tutelage, the twenty-seven member youth orchestra had grown into the J.E.A. Symphony Orchestra with eighty musicians, and was regarded as the finest amateur orchestra on the East Coast of the United States. The Baltimore Sun frequently praised the orchestra for both development and quality of performance, and the Beethoven-laden seasons of new music appeared frequently in the newspaper. Throughout the Great Depression Klasmer found work as a musician and conductor, but after, as orchestras began to disappear from movie houses and vaudeville declined as a popular form of entertainment, Klasmer continued to perform at the Hippodrome as part of a two person comedy/music act and to write music for local ventures. Klasmer composed a variety of music, largely for the violin, as well as a number of popular songs. His most famous work was the official theme song of the Baltimore Colts football team, which he co-wrote with Jo Lombardi in 1947. . ."
