Think?. . .

. . . maybe this guy HAS SOMETHING????. . .

(From http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2017/10/jeff-flake-just-delivered-the-most-impassioned-rebuke-of-donald-trump/)
". . . “I rise today with no small measure of regret,” Flake said from the Senate floor, his voice at times cracking. “Regret, because of the state of our disunion, regret because of the disrepair and destructiveness of our politics, regret because of the indecency of our discourse, regret because of the coarseness of our leadership, regret for the compromise of our moral authority, and by our—all of our—complicity in this alarming and dangerous state of affairs. . . “It is time for our complicity and our accommodation of the unacceptable to end,” he continued. . ."

Dear . . .

. . . Congressman. . .

Writing to ask you to take the leadership in having Congress begin the process of writing some ethics laws which WILL apply to the office of President of the United States and his staff.  “You must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place, oblige it to control itself.”
wrote James Madison in The Federalist Papers. True, all of our Presidents, until now, possessed the principles necessary to understand the immense responsibility they undertook with the office. But alas, this is 2017 and that is no longer a fact.

Please help the good people of this country, and future generations, to ensure that holders of the highest office in the land are held to the standard which any moral being would naturally subscribe.
This is important because we now know, beings other than moral ones can actually be elected to this office.

Leadership? . . .

The 1st amendment allows me to say anything I want.  So that's exactly what I do.  It doesn't matter whether its a fact or not.  Therefore you must accept and respect anything I say. If you do not agree, than you are bad and you are wrong. And when you disagree, I verbally strike back, and preferably by calling you the most terrible name you have ever been called, and maybe . . .

NEVER SPEAK to you again!

Know . . .

. . . your enemy . . .

(from http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2015/03/what-isis-really-wants/384980/)
". . . The Islamic State, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), follows a distinctive variety of Islam whose beliefs about the path to the Day of Judgment matter to its strategy, and can help the West know its enemy and predict its behavior. Its rise to power is less like the triumph of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt (a group whose leaders the Islamic State considers apostates) than like the realization of a dystopian alternate reality in which David Koresh or Jim Jones survived to wield absolute power over not just a few hundred people, but some 8 million.

We have misunderstood the nature of the Islamic State in at least two ways. First, we tend to see jihadism as monolithic, and to apply the logic of al‑Qaeda to an organization that has decisively eclipsed it. The Islamic State supporters I spoke with still refer to Osama bin Laden as “Sheikh Osama,” a title of honor. But jihadism has evolved since al-Qaeda’s heyday, from about 1998 to 2003, and many jihadists disdain the group’s priorities and current leadership. . . "

Trouble . . .

. . . coming

Saudi Arabia sentenced a man to ten years in prison for using Twitter to "encourage protests" against the rulers and another to eight years for "insulting" the King and "inciting protests" on Twitter and other social media. The Saudi Justice Ministry spokesman said the men's actions undermine the country's leadership, are hostile to the government and promote deviant ideologies. Both sentences were pronounced days after the country officially declared the Muslim Brotherhood to be a terrorist organization. Saudi Arabia further warned that any Saudi or foreigner residing there could be sentenced to heavy jail terms for joining extremist groups or participating in such groups' activities. The Interior Ministry statement also criminalized atheism on the part of Saudis or residents. The nation's ongoing intent is to severely limit freedoms of expression and religion while countering extremism and terrorism and frequently violate internationally-recognized human rights.

Too old to learn? . . .

(from today's news)
President Obama will give a speech in Osawatomie, Kansas on the economy today at a location the White House says was very specific in picking and meant to echo President Teddy Roosevelt. Roosevelt spoke in the very same town more than 100 years ago on August 31, 1910 where he presented his vision for American and the coming 1912 election. Obama is an avid appreciator of history, believes lessons from history can be applied to problems today and regularly consults with historians regarding current situations.

(from Harry Truman’s History Lessons
By Samuel W. Rushay, Jr.)
"My debt to history is one which cannot be calculated. I know of no other motivation which so accounts for my awakening interest as a young lad in the principles of leadership and government." –Memoirs by Harry S. Truman, vol. I (1955)

Throughout his long life, Harry S. Truman thought, wrote, and spoke about history. For Truman, history had a meaning that went beyond a casual interest. It provided him ethical and moral guidance and was a tool that he used to make decisions, most notably as President of the United States during his two terms of office, 19451953. As a student of Truman has put it, Truman "internalized" history and looked to the past almost reflexively whenever a problem or issue arose.

Let's see -- I can't..., I can't. . . I'm sorry ... oops...

. . . (based [loosely] upon http://www.rickperry.org/issues/)
America is at a crossroads. One in six work-eligible Americans cannot find a uh, the uh...struggling to avoid foreclosure or to just make ends meet. As national leaders spend more time assigning blame than laying out a clear vision, the prospects for recovery seem let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops..

Rick Perry will get America working again.
As Governor of uh, the uh...let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops, Rick Perry has helped build the nation's strongest economy. Since June 2009, more than 40 percent of all net new jobs in America have been created in Texas. Thanks to his fiscally conservative leadership, Texans enjoy one of the lowest tax burdens in the country and one of the uh, the uh...

The principles that have guided Rick Perry's leadership in Texas are the same principles that will guide him as let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops:
Don't spend all the money. Keep taxes low and regulations fair. And invest aggressively in job creation, because good jobs make the American Dream possible. It's time for a leader who will allow us to believe again – to believe that America's best days are ahead, that we are not consigned to a fate of high unemployment and economic uh, let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops., and that our place in the world can once again be secure with a policy of peace through strength. That leader is Rick Perry. And the restoration of the American Dream begins today.

The Issues

Jobs
Rick Perry will get government out of the way so we can get America working again. By cutting taxes, repealing regulations, balancing our budget and uh, the uh...America can create millions of new jobs. Perry not only espouses conservative economic ideas – he has put them to work in his home state, where nearly 40% of uh, the uh...let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops.

Fiscal Responsibility
Washington is broken. President Obama and other establishment politicians think it can be fixed with let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops. Rick Perry knows it will require taking a wrecking ball to the three pillars of big government: overtaxing, overspending and overregulation.

Security
As a proud Air Force veteran, Rick Perry believes we must pursue peace through strength and provide the resources to maintain uh, the uh... Perry will advance American interests abroad by standing firm with our allies, and ensuring American blood and American Treasure are spent only when American interests are threatened. Equally important, he will protect the American homeland by forcing Washington to let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops.

Healthcare
Rick Perry believes government must stimulate job creation so more Americans are covered by employer-sponsored health plans. We must repeal Obamacare, and completely transform the uh, the uh...let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops.

Social Issues
Rick Perry is a conservative of conviction, not of convenience. On the bedrock issues of life, marriage and uh, the uh..., Perry’s conservative values are clear and uh, the uh...let's see -- I can't..., I can't. I'm sorry ... oops.

Just read an article. . .

. . . at http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0811/60921.html, by BEN SMITH & JONATHAN MARTIN | 8/9/11 4:29 AM EDT Updated: 8/9/11 11:26 AM EDT, and promptly wrote to Barack Obama's website to say, "I beg you, PLEASE DON'T RUN A PERSONAL, NEGATIVE CAMPAIGN."

I continued, "Mr. Obama has always taken the high road in political controversy without sacrificing his point of view. I beg your entire organization to MAINTAIN the integrity that this president has exhibited throughout his time in office through the election and take the first step in changing the awful way that the political process currently operates.

In spite of opinions on how he has done the job, no logical person would question his apparently sincere motives and efforts to serve the CITIZENS of this country. I believe, and I think the majority of the good people in America (after taking the time to seriously consider it) do also, that the president's character speaks volumes to his leadership abilities and that he will carry the election if he remains true to these ideals and to himself."

This is what distinguishes Mr. Obama, a true leader, from the rest of the field.

I hate to appear partisan, but WTF?!?!?!?!? What choice do I have after seeing the available options in the 'opposite camp.'http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politic/2011/0 /11/2011-08-11_president_obama_rips_congress_for_playing_partisan_politics_over_governing_count.html?r=news/politics

"There are some in Congress right now who would rather see their opponents lose than see America win, and that has to stop." (Barack Obama)
