Integrity . . .

Fifteen minutes of glory, maybe less.
What I wouldn't give for a chance to confess
All the intimate little secrets;
All my hopes and my desires.
I don't care just how valid you think that they are.
They've been mine for a long, long time
And I'm not ashamed of them.

Shut-up Joe.
How do you really know
What's goin' down?
How can you tell if there's a problem somewhere
That you've found?
We all need to gather round.
Help everybody else to see.
That running your mouth aloud
Makes it that much more difficult
For you and me
And our integrity.

Went to work at the factory at fourteen.
Thought I'd finish my schooling sometime in between
Drunken weekends and feudal street-fights
And the visits to my best girl.
But the time slipped away. I've got bills here to pay.
I've got small mouths dependent on me.
My vision is limited.

All my life I know I've wanted to say
Something to my fellow man today.
Couldn't let the facts get in the way.

We weren't that well acquainted. That's the word.
An occasional run-in, we preferred.
Cause one thing that we both believed in,
Heard it over and over again,
It was something about all the fondness we felt;
How the heart can't miss what's not around.
The mind doesn't value it.

Laws . . .

. . . may or may not have been (or are not currently being) provably broken, but do you really want to allow this person to continue in office???. . .

". . . we would tell the most dishonest man to ever occupy the Oval Office, the mocker of war heroes, the gleeful grabber of women’s private parts, the serial bankrupter of businesses, the useful idiot of Vladimir Putin and the guy who insisted there are “good people” among murderous neo-Nazis that he’s still not fooling most Americans into believing he’s even slightly competent in his current post. Or that he possesses a scintilla of integrity. Better to have some vermin living in your neighborhood than to be one. . ."

Heart . . .

Have you no heart
And no feelings; no soul?
Do the words
Empathy, sympathy seem hard to comprehend?
I guess you should
Answer the first

Have you no children
So close and so dear
That separation
Would not hurt?
I guess you should
Answer the first

Have you no neighbor
Who may need something more
To make her life better;
To survive her own storm?
I guess you should
Answer the first

Have you no sense of decency;
Integrity;  principles
When it comes to another one’s life
Since you claim you are “Pro”?
But I guess you should
Answer the first

Have you no sense of what is really right
Can you feel any feeling
Do you have any sight
For disaster that surrounds you?
I guess you should
Answer the first . . .

Have you no heart
And no feelings; no soul?

Integrity . . .

. . . is the very least we can expect from a President . . .

". . . In the 497 days since he took the oath of office, President Trump has made 3,251 false or misleading claims, according to The Fact Checker’s database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president. . .That’s an average of more than 6.5 claims a day. . . When we first started this project for the president’s first 100 days, he averaged 4.9 claims a day. . ."

Coffee . . .

. . . is my friend . . .

Always there for me, without fail, never letting me down. But have you ever noticed the planned obsolescence of the bag, provided for you by the nice people at the grocery store, into which your coffee tumbles after the beans have been poured into the top of the machine for grinding? In the store, this bag is the picture of integrity.  Other shoppers, and many times the checkout clerk, frequently comment upon the rich aroma of your sophisticated purchase, inspiring a certain pride in yourself for possessing such exquisite taste as you peer upon the delightful bag.  But upon transferring that powder of the gods from the convenient grocery store pouch into your storage jar or crock, when it becomes a certainty that the entire amount of the contents will not fit into your storage container, you roll the top of the bag down to the level of the remaining coffee and clip the sides together to return it to the freezer. And like clockwork, without fail, never letting you down . . . a trail of coffee grinds remains on your countertop and across the floor to the freezer where you have stored the remaining ground coffee. . . .

Gone . . .

. . . are the days when men ruled the world.  Over are the times in which men held the upper hand simply because they could beat the crap out of any woman who disagreed.  History has taught us that no situation remains long in place that was established through brute force. And like the marginalization of Jews, people of color and homosexual persons we must (to paraphrase John Shelby Spong) cleanse ourselves of our distorted past in order to restore integrity and honor to our society. We must embrace this enlightenment, rejoice in it and celebrate it.

LL . . .

. . . lists

I rarely read the www.cbsnews.com or other pop-ups that says things like "Top ten celebrities who take amazing brain pills" or other such nonsense, but, I did click on the link that was accompanied by a shot from the old 'Happy Days' television show that claims to list 24 'celebrities' (sic) who endorse the last-standing Republican nominee for President.  Needless to say it produced nothing significant in surprise or knowledge.  As a matter of fact, it only reinforced my opinion on the matter.  I must say the list did include the name of one personality in whose integrity I had formerly held some faith and am now therefore . . . a little disappointed.  That name, I'm sad to say, was Loretta Lynn. . .

News . . .

. . . outlets. . .

(from 935 Lies; The Future of Truth and the Decline of America's Moral Integrity by Charles Lewis)
". . . But here's what troubles (Jane) Kirtley: "I fear that 'big media' are becoming increasingly irrelevant in this equation. . . You know as well as I do that the big First Amendment cases of the 1960s through '80s were mostly fought and won by the 'legacy press.' I am not at all sure that will continue to be the case. And this is significant because if the legacy media don't do it, I'm not sure who will step in." The reality, she added, is that if today's news media owners "don't see that the First Amendment is the prerequisite to making money, then they won't" take risks, publish, and defend their legal right to do so later in court. "The legions of bloggers are good at making noise, but I'm not sure they'll join forces to litigate-assuming that, as a group, they'd have enough money to do it.". . . "

Pitch . . .

(from http://attunedvibrations.com/432hz/)
". . . According to Brain T. Collins, a musician and researcher, the standard pitch (A=440 Hz) does not harmonize on any level that corresponds to cosmic movement, rhythm, or natural vibration. . . There’s a growing musical and metaphysical movement for recovering optimal integrity in the music industry and spirituality through the 432Hz tuning.  . . In April 2008 Dutch journalist Richard Huisken founded the ‘back to 432 Hz’ committee, claiming that this original tuning was used in ancient cultures and is found on antique instruments like the Stradivarius violin. According to Huisken, music tuned to 432 Hz is softer and brighter, giving greater clarity and is easier on the ears. . . 432 Hz seems to work at the heart chakra, “the feeling”, and therefore could have a good influence on the spiritual development of the listener. Some people who are not able to distinguish the 8hz difference claim they can feel the music warmer due to the longer wavelength. . . Researchers and musicians . . .report that they feel calmer, happier and more relaxed when playing music at 432Hz. . ."

(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A440_%28pitch_standard%29)
". . . Prior to the standardization on 440 Hz, many countries and organizations followed the Austrian government's 1885 recommendation of 435 Hz. The American music industry reached an informal standard of 440 Hz in 1926, and some began using it in instrument manufacturing. In 1936 the American Standards Association recommended that the A above middle C be tuned to 440 Hz. This standard was taken up by the International Organization for Standardization in 1955 (reaffirmed by them in 1975) as ISO 16. . ."

Imitation. . .

 . . . is the sincerest form of flattery. . .

Quotes from Charles Caleb Colton
"Friendship often ends in love; but love in friendship - never."

"True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it is lost."

"Nothing more completely baffles one who is full of trick and duplicity, than straightforward and simple integrity in another."

"Those that are the loudest in their threats are the weakest in their actions."

"Much may be done in those little shreds and patches of time which every day produces, and which most men throw away."

"Men's arguments often prove nothing but their wishes."

"Corruption is like a ball of snow, once it's set a rolling it must increase."

"Men are born with two eyes, but with one tongue, in order that they should see twice as much as they say."

"Imitation is the sincerest of flattery."

Why. . .

. . . do you always paint. . .
. . . yourself as a victim
When you should take
The bull by the horns
Don’t let it happen
Don’t let it happen to you

The situation’s well
Within your control
Your grip’s more firm
Than you thought it would be
You’ve got to grab it
You’ve got to grab it like the
Big brass ring
Big brass ring

Drama comes nat’rally to you
When you lose control
Drama comes nat’rally to you
When you lose control

It isn’t necessarily
Required to happen
Cards may seem stacked
But you still can overcome
With a commitment
You’ve got to mean what you say

What benefit to you enjoy
From all these actions
Do you derive
Some pleasure
From your place
Beneath that Cuban heel
So far below that lofty
Big brass ring
Big brass ring

You favor being far below the underdog
To hold distinct advantage in the game
But do you comprehend the gravity at hand
Any integrity you may possess is
Well hidden from view

It’s up to you
How it will be into the future
No matter what has taken
Place back in the past
Yes you can do it
It’s no impossible task

You can be sure though
That it’s never gonna happen
‘Til you wake up
And see the
Spotlight isn’t always
Meant for you
But you can always catch the
Big brass ring
Big brass ring
