I'm Dreaming . . .

. . . of a quality manual when I should be getting some rest. The visions include no sugarplums but do have a lot of copying and pasting, the bureaucracy fighting nobly to prevent substantial sleep. Flowers bloom and birds sing as the refuse trucks whine in the dawn and my fitful nap continues. But better things lie ahead with good friends and family in nice places where foamy waves lap at the sandy coast and blue skies meet the aqua expanse in my (nearer than I think) future . . . and music. . .

Fall . . .

. . . also known as AUTUMN . .

“It looked like the world was covered in a cobbler crust of brown sugar and cinnamon.”
― Sarah Addison Allen, First Frost

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
― Albert Camus

“You expected to be sad in the fall. Part of you died each year when the leaves fell from the trees and their branches were bare against the wind and the cold, wintery light. But you knew there would always be the spring, as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person died for no reason.”
― Ernest Hemingway, A Moveable Feast

“I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself, than be crowded on a velvet cushion.”
― Henry David Thoreau

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
― Lauren DeStefano, Wither

On and On . . .

. . . flow the hours
Like rolling waves upon the sea
And like so many and so varied flowers
Each one some nectar for the bee

We're keeping tabs and writing numbers
Logging each minute in the book
We have a choice to
Either dread the counting
Or see the bricks if we just look

Store the knowledge
Hoard the wisdom
Take the years
And just run like crazy

Flowers, Learning and Seeger. . .

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Gone for husbands everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing?
Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago?
Where have all the husbands gone?
Gone for soldiers everyone
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing?
Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago?
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Gone to flowers, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Lines. . .

. . . Written in Early Spring. . .
(By William Wordsworth)

I heard a thousand blended notes,
While in a grove I sate reclined,
In that sweet mood when pleasant thoughts
Bring sad thoughts to the mind.

To her fair works did Nature link
The human soul that through me ran;
And much it grieved my heart to think
What man has made of man.

Through primrose tufts, in that green bower,
The periwinkle trailed its wreaths;
And ’tis my faith that every flower
Enjoys the air it breathes.

The birds around me hopped and played,
Their thoughts I cannot measure:—
But the least motion which they made
It seemed a thrill of pleasure.

The budding twigs spread out their fan,
To catch the breezy air;
And I must think, do all I can,
That there was pleasure there.

If this belief from heaven be sent,
If such be Nature’s holy plan,
Have I not reason to lament
What man has made of man?

The flower always dies eventually
Despite your noble efforts to preserve it the fact remains
You water and you nurture lovingly
Displaying all its beauty so that everyone can see
It's not for me alone
All beauty lasts but temporarily

If only things you love could always be
This would be a perfect world right here and now
No need to grieve
But wishes are the stuff of children's dreams
And we all know that dreams are gone
Before the dawning of another day
All beauty lasts but temporarily

Day
It can just disappear without a warning at all
And no matter how hard you try to understand
You won't

Like many of this life's anomalies
Such beauty and such desolation
Side by side can be
It doesn't become easier with time
All the experience in this world
Can't relieve the ache we feel
All beauty lasts but temporarily
