Dwelling . . .

. . . alternative . . .

(from http://www.newagenomad.com/p/van-dwelling-page.html)
". . . The name that friends and family assigned to my home on wheels. It's small and cheap and gets about 3 times the gas mileage as the big rigs.  Also allows me to go where a lot of others can't do to its small size. Yet still contains all the necessities I need. My monthly expenses our around $125 a month for High speed Internet, Phone, Netflix, Insurance, and tabs. Gas is dependent on travel winter months are spent in the warm southwest hardly moving at all. Summer months are spent at cool higher elevation and moves are more frequent. Then theres food, wobbly pops, water, and entertainment. Entertainment is usually free provided who your neighbors at the moment. Only had to pay for water once in 3 years and it was 50 cents for 40 gallons. . ."

The music business is a lot like the electoral process.

"The clear difference between the cheap pop put on the radio and the quality work heard less is the amount of money thrown at the pop to force into the ears of all." (thanks David Balogh)

Twelve . . .

. . . more hours . . .

So many things I'd like to do
So many places to see
And I feel like
There's never enough
Time for anything else
That I might desire to undertake
Something I'd like to purse
But the world's just spinning around
Keeps me head and foot-bound
Don't know what to do

Give me just twelve hours
To add to my day
Keep all your wealth and your money
Take your fame and power
For time just give me twelve hours

Time isn't cheap
You pay so dearly
I'm trying to make every minute count
Penny count

Spending my time seem like all i do
Can't save up for rainy days
Can't invest in
An instrument to
Earn satisfaction to draw from
When far-in-the future I need to feel
Just what my value has been
There's no interest that's coming or due
Dividends are so precious and few
Don't know what to do

Give me just twelve hours
To add to my day
Keep all your wealth and your money
Take your fame and power
For time just give me twelve hours

Barack Obama wants. . .

. . . to have dinner with me.

You see, the subject of his email was: "Raymond, can we meet for dinner?"

But you know what? As I read on, I realized that he was asking me for money. Well certainly a lot of people ask me for money. I'm sure lots of folks ask you for money too. But there's something tawdry about this proposal.

Don't get me wrong. I like Barack Obama. I think he is a decent, principled man trying to do what is best for his country. He is a politician though. That part I don't like as much, but he must act the politician in order to be successful; and to be elected (or as presently, re-elected).

But back to dinner; it's one thing to ask someone to dinner. But to ask for money just for the pleasure of my company at dinner, well, it makes me feel . . . cheap.
